I live in rural North Georgia, an work at a Cracker Barrel that is about 45 minutes outside Atalanta. So far I have not been affected by the down turn in the economy. I don't get out a whole lot and kind of stay in my own little world. While I do keep up to date on the news and financial happenings, I have not really touched base with a lot of people on how tis economy is affecting them. So how have you been personally affected by this economy?

Personally, we have not been affected because we don't live beyond means. We don't have charge bills, etc. Hubby works OT when available and I work a FT and a PT job to try and keep us ahead.
We were out shopping yesterday and people were out shopping, I was really surprised.

I personally have to wonder how much of the financial crisis is real and how much is generated by all the media attention.
I have no doubt that if you have a lot of money put into investments and/or are heavily in debt (whether you have huge mortgage payments or live off of credit cards) then you will probably feel the pinch.
As for myself, I recently sold my house so that I could pay off my debts. I rent and have no car and no credit cards. So far, not much has changed for me since the "recession" was recently announced. But the, I live very simply to begin with.
Over the past few years I have learned to live frugally and make a little bit go a long way. I believe there are many people out there who are used to spending freely and charging everything to credit cards who will suddenly have a rude wake-up call. In some ways, I believe I am better prepared than many people for any financial crisis.

Well, I was offered a job at a car dealership, and it was pretty promising... I quit my job, and then they didn't hire me. And I'm sure it has to do with the fact that car sales are down so much because people are cutting back on spending and because loans are so hard to get at a good rate. The car industry (new car industry, anyway) is suffering significantly.
