I can see some people who are very excited for thanks giving holidays. People in my church are traveling to other states on thanksgiving holidays. How i wish we can travel too and visit our relatives to spend the thanksgiving time with them. But my hubby has no plan yet. I am not sure either if we can, because we are financially tight and to travel means money. But am sure many are planning to spend time with loved ones in other parts of the country.
How about you? do you have any plans to travel? oh that means you will be away from mylot for a while on thanksgiving?

It seems that Thanksgiving Day is really one if not the most awaited time of the year in America. I could really feel how excitement of people just through your post. It seems like people are finding this day a perfect time to travel and reunite with loved ones. Even if I were in your place, I will also feel the same you do.
We have no thanksgiving day here in the Philippines, so the long holiday that I look forward to is the Christmas holiday. But we have no travel plans instead, we have so plans for parties and other preparations.

Yes I know my friend, No thanks giving celebration in the Philippines except when somebody pass from board exam or other accomplishment like a son who graduated as summa comlaude hahahah of course parents will celebrate thanks giving for that matter. I remember that happening but no specific day to celebrate like Americans do.
Every last Saturday of November is thanksgiving day here and it is marked red in their calendar. But the Filipinos have lots of Holidays than Americans hahaha that's for sure.

We are near family this year so we'll probably travel. You should travel too, don't worry about money, you can't get the holidays back, so go for it. Gobble, gobble.

I think we are traveling to my sisters house in Arkansas, its about a two and a half hour drive, but with gas prices going down we'll be alright, providing they stay down, some people think they will go back up during the holidays, and most likely they will, but we'll go anyway, we don't get to see her that often and I'll be excited to see her. Yes, I will probably be away from mylot at least for a day or so, but I'll be back....Have a good day

How I wish that we will travel and spend the thanks giving to other state but my husband is not a traveler and would rather stay at home. All his siblings are living in the same town so we are going to spend thanksgiving probably in his sister or brother's house. Of course, Turkey should be in the table! hehe

I understand that also since we are always inside the house and going somewhere is always exciting for a change! maybe visiting friends will also be a great idea!
In my case, I have invitations for regular gathering for "pinoy" but I am not very active there for some reasons!

Yes I plan on traveling to my daughter's for Thanksgiving dinner. She lives 2 buildings over from me, so it won't be a long ride. All my family is within a few blocks of me. We all go to my daughter;s because she has the biggest kitchen table and we can all have a seat. This year she has invited the lady and her daughter that lives behind me, they are all alone on Thanksgiving as her family lives way off and she has been sick, so they will be there for dinner also. I though that was a nice gesture for her to do. I miss the times when we used to travel to gramdma's house for the holidays.

It is good for me, but not for my husband who is a 1000 miles from his family. We have been relocated from the hurricane of 2005 and it makes it real hard on him. He is down there now and will miss Thanksgiving with us this year but sometimes you have to give a little so someone else can have the time they need. It is nice being so close to family, I had been away from them only seeing them on some holidays, and I really enjoy spending the holidays with them.

wow!! that's great that you and your family are living blocks away from each other. It's a good thing you will not travel far when you want to have family gathering. That is so good, I am very far from my brother and sister,, and I am just imagining the time when we were together before. Those were the days. Now it's hard to travel...

Me and my husband had actually planned on going for a vacation to Ct on thanksgiving. It would have been such a great day because aside from the fact that its a relaxation trip, its also a reunion w/ me and my long-lost friend from the Philippines whom I consider as one of my bossom best friends.
We've known each other for I guess almost 18 yrs now; her families seem to be my families too and I am like an Aunt to her kids as well. We parted ways when she and her husband decided to migrate here in the USA 5 years ago and since then we never meet again in person.
When I came here last May and married my husband(who petitioned me from the Philippines)we still have communications and both were so excited to see eac other someday. Both of us sometimes can't still believe that we're here already and we are living in just nearby states (mine in Vermont and hers in Connecticut).......what a small world indeed! And so we began to plan schedules as to when we can have reunion and that thanks giving day would be perfect......she even had filed already a leave from work for that date...so as my husband and me.
However, things changed.....I suddenly (and unexpectedly) lost my job. With this, it was obviously impossible for us to still go for such vacation because of our tight budget by now. We lost 50% of our income and that of my husband's is just barely enough for our bills and other consumptions....so sad! But anyway I guess there are still plenty of time and chance to go there, hopefully next year when we are all set. Actually as of this moment a filipina friend was calling me for a possible job opening in her place, I will be going there tomorrow...hopefully I can get a new one....and such vacation will be pushed through very soon.

Hi silverjam, Oh!! wow!! what a confession!! so, you're from the Philippines? that's cool!!! maybe we are from the same place?. My hubby is from Connecticut. We have been planning to be there either thanksgiving or Christmas but same as you, we are in tight budget this time. It will take us 12 hours driving from here and that would be an awful trip... I wish we can travel if not this thanksgiving hopefully on Christmas time. I just wish I can have a job to supplement our income but I don't know when will that happen. Good for you, you seems very lucky, you did lost a job but another opportunity had come. I never have that kind of luck since I am here. I just hope and pray that there is something better in the next few months. Good luck for your travel plan.
