I think I learned something about the posting and I want to see if y'all think this is right or not.
It seems that the RESPONSE is counted in your count of total posts, as well as any new discussion you start. BUT it seems that any thing you post as a COMMENT is not counted -- is that correct? And now that makes me wonder if the comments are not contributing to our earnings at all? If so that is not good, since I notice most of us tend to post a lot of comments.
I think the comments are not counted in the earnings -- and that helps explain for me why sometimes i write LONG, LONG posts and don't see much increase in earnings.
What does everyone think?

Hi frnds,
me and every one will posts the responds to a discussions. We can get a earnings
from the starting new discussions giving responds to this discussions, giving a responds to my mylot frnds, refferals will get money and we can earn, ratings we can earn but commiting, pictures and adding frnds will not get money and we can't earn. Our contribution is to earn on the commiting, pictures and adding frnds.
For me some times i will post a long responds but it will come less earnings.
Earn mylot frnds and be happy.

Hi friend,The earnings we earn in mylot is still vague for all mylotters. When I expect more earnings only that day I would get very less and when I expect less I would get more.So we can never judge the rating system here and the quality and descriptive posts get 2cents perpost. They also value us by the comments we post for the responses we get for our discussions. So I never try to judge the rating system nowadays and keep posting and posting.Enjoy posting.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

That is not quite correct you earn one point for your response and one more point for a comment to someone else's response in the same discussion for a maximum of two points. For any further comments or a comment to your own response you do not earn any points. I checked this out when I fits joined myLot and was checking and counting every point I earned.

thedogshrink Now you are asking the most well kept secret how the earning are calculated. Now one knows the answer and if we post anything it is breaking the myLot guidelines... under the Don'ts - Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm. Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system and we wouldn’t want any of our users to make them feel inadequate by breaking their algorithm in minutes.
So sorry but I cannot answer that question.

Thanks for all the info, but WHERE are you going to check it out? I've read the tos and the faq, but never saw anything that specific.
I'm also wondering how you get the rank that is written beside your name (not the star) -- to the right of the number of posts you've made?

OK, so let me see if I have this right...
Every thing we type whether multiple comments on the same discussion, new discussions, or responses will all count in our earnings?
But for the number of posts points, only your first response/comment counts, or once you've received a response your initial discussion and one more comment on someone's response to your discussion?
I'm asking this of everyone -- just happened to put it under this response, since I was here already.

Well only the discussions you start or the original responses to a discussion count toward that number in parentheses after your name. However, the total number of posts is simply the total number of posts, that doesn't dictate the amount you make at any one time. It's too bad that comments don't count as posts, in my opinion they ARE additional posts but mylot doesn't choose to count them as such.
I think everything you do here contributes somehow to earnings, but I do not think there is a formula that any poster here can point anybody toward.

Yes, the comments don't have any contribution for the post count, neither don't the discussion started but all of them would make earning for you The more you post, the more you earn. I believe that giving comments also paid off, because it is clearly stated here in myLot that you are going to be paid based on your activity, not based on the post count.

myklj999 you are correct the discussion must first receive a response before it counts.

According to my understanding, that is correct. I think Mylot figures that the way these people on here can banter back and forth over and over especially when they don't agree on something..that is going to cost them a lot of money. I am starting to save myself some time by not responding to the people who are just being nasty or want to argue.

Your comments count, but only one per discussion. I think. I will write a long post if the discussion warrents it, but usually not.

I think you have that backwards. We get paid for our responses to other people's discussions. The answers need to be detailed however, and the rumor is they should be at least 4 lines in length. We also get paid for the discussions we start if they seem to be decent discussions that get a decent amount of responses. The rumor for that is at least 5 responses. I can not verify those numbers but that is a lot of people say. They also say that posting photos will get you more as well, and I believe that to be true.

It's true. i posted a rant about this a few weeks ago because I noticed the same thing. I always thought that posting comments also count as responses as long as you have 4-5 sentence as well. But you really don't get paid for it. Other members feel that it helps you earn indirectly when you help make the discussions better and people keep responding. Sometimes, I do notice a little increase in my earnings when I have a lot of comments.

hello friend,i think whatever we do on mylot, post the response, discussion, comments, adding photos and rating positive feedback that all will bring us the earnings. The spirit of mylot is as long as we participate in community,we will get the pennies. It is true.so mylot also pay us the cents for the comments we left in the discussion which the other members respond us.Because i feel everytime, when i post the comments to the response,my earning will incrase a little more in the next day updating.lol, keep moving.
happy myloting.good luck

The way i understood the FAQ's in mylot,we are paid for the discussions we make,as well as with the responses, comments and pictures that we contribute in this site.Thats the way i understood it.I really dont know how mylot computes out earnings, but sometimes i do make long long posts with pictures in it but like you, does not get the payments i was expecting.i guess it does happens.for no reasons,i do not know.but sometimes when i do short posts , i earn more than i expect me to earn.so i guess mylot balances it.sometimes you earn much, ometimes less. The bottomline is you earning. So im pretty contented with that.
have a nice day.

Yes, this is true. Starting a new Discussion increases your post count. Responding to a Discussion increases your post count. (But only the first time that you respond to it.). Comments, however, are NOT counted in post count. So, yes, it probably does affect your earnings because of this.

Exactly mommyboo it counts only the first time you post a response when you talk about points going up. So i do comment on a discussion i previously was involved in, but i keep in mind i dont get points for it. But it's all good.

You have stated the facts EAStanley. Comments are not counted for our posts count. However, if we will base the situation with my own experience, I must say that comments does affect our earnings, but in a positive way. Before, I actually earned 21 cents just by commenting on the responses for my discussion.

This cannot be true because many days I only post responses and have made some amount of money. I very seldom start new discussions because there always seems to be one close to the one I wanted to start. So I tend to just post responses and rate the comments. The earnings are low but they do add up and I should make payout this month.

I think the SAME THING TOO! Lately, I have noticed exactly what you are talking about too! When I respond or make an comment on any of MY discussions, the comment post will never go up. It makes me wonder if I am getting paid for this.. I know that my posts will go up when I respond to SOMEONE ELSE'S DISCUSSION, but just not on mines.. I am assuming that we are getting paid for posting even if the number never seems to go up or not. I believe that myLot has a certain way that they give us credit for whatever posts that we do. This is an question that concerns me too. Because if we are not getting paid for every post that we do, long or short post, then that would be sad.. I hope that we are getting credit every time that we leave an remark to any discussion, period. Maybe someone here at myLot can explain it much better to you. I hope to get the answer to this question as well.. I have always wondered about this, and for someone else to wonder, then I know that it ia an issue that needs to be clarified. I hope that we all get the answer to this question..

Hi there!
Your number of posts increases every response you make to another user's discussions. It also increases if you receive a response from your own started discussions but only once and all other responses received and comments made within the same discussion is not counted as post.
In my opinion, though it has been said by a lot of members here that we don't earn from making comments I think it still helps us cause we are participating. Mylot requires us to use the site as often as we could and the more we use it the more we earn.
It is not obligation for every mylotter to comment back. Doing it is one's choice. I like to comment back on my responses if possible. I'd like several exchanges of views in my discussions and in my experience it increases my earnings too. I don't know how I just do know it does.
Ciao!

I think everything counts for earnings because it has to do with participation, but your comments do not count in your total post.

No our comments are not added to our accumilative posts number next to our username however in my opinion comments posted although not counted do in actual fact help towards earnings. I would go as far as to say this because one day last month I spent more time online posting comments than responses and I still recieved a pretty good earning from it. I'm sure other users will say the same or similar thing.

I found that out the first couple of posts, comments and discussions that I started. It is funny because it seems that all participation should be counted. Just like when u post a discussion, you only get credited once.... you do not get earnings for each comment that you post. I think that you should but you do not. This makes it harder to earn. I thought that when I first started here on mylot that you get credited for EVERYTHING you participate in but I guess I was wrong...have a nice day.
