Do you continue eating your food/drink if your dog sniffs or licks it? Do you purposely share food with your dog, like a lick for each of you from the ice cream? Do you think it is gross or OK? Or if it depends on the particular food, give examples. What if your dog gets a really good bite of something?

I would not share my food with my little old dog because his mouth was really smelly........bless him. I dont mind sharing with my new boy though. Dont forget, we can give dogs as many germs as they can give us........

Yes, I think germs are really not the issue, even tho people think it is. There just isn't much that you would catch from eating after a dog. But, it's just not very delicious with dog slobber on it -- or sometimes dog hair! If somehow my dog licked something I REALLY WANTED BAD, then I'd probably wipe that part off and keep eating. But I don't like the idea of eating after my dogs, because of the slobber and hair!!

I have no pet now, but I had a Bichon Friese for almost 17 years and he was like my baby. But he was still a dog and I am a human and so we did not mix food. He LOVED ice cream and especially Dreamscicles, and he would sit quietly and wait til I was almost through and then he would get the last inch or two on the stick by licking it off while I held the stick for him. He also was not fed at the table while others were eating. He had his dish and his time and he knew it. However, no matter wherever he was in the house, if I went to the freezer to get out the popscicles, he would suddenly appear by my side.......he knew!

No way. Much as I love my dogs, we don't allow this to happen. If we eat an ice cream cone, whichever of our pet is with us gets the end of it. Most of the time, I buy them a cup each, since they all love ice cream. Sometimes, my younger son Dylon, holds the edge of a doggie biscuit between his teeth and lets our doggies take it from him from the other end.

No, I don't think I could go on eating what ever it is after my dogs, cats or horses licked it. Even if it were something I really liked or wanted. I will give them a piece of something I'm eating as long as I don't think it will hurt them. But they don't get it from the table, I always try and put food stuffs into their bowls so they won't beg.

I don't have a dog but I most probably would give the dog the food he started eating. I mean, its obvious that he wants it to so why not give him what he wants? Also, about the ice cream. I most probably wouldn't have a problem sharing a ice with my dog. Thats what I usually do with my cat. :)

I would never eat the food which is licked by my dog for health reasons & also say others to do so. In fact, I have a cat & keep her utensils also seperate, so that she does not come near our food.

My dogs never sniff or lick my food. They will sniff the air if my food smell good. Much as I love my dogs I would not share my food with them.

We we were little I had a cousin who would let her dog eat potato chips out of her mouth. We all know that dogs lick things, smell things that they shouldn't, and with all the talk about germs today, I would rather not do that....eat food after a dog licked or sniffed...but to each his or her own. I won't judge others who do it.

I haven't eaten/drank after my dogs have that I know of... I'm not saying it hasn't ever happened since there have been a few times when my dogs have been caught drinking out of my cup- I emptied it and got a new cup, but who knows how many times they'd done that and I hadn't caught them lol My dogs do know how to eat from a spoon. When I'm finished with something they do get to have some, but the have their own spoon that is made of thick plastic so that they don't bite down and hurt their teeth on a metal one. When I have to give a medication to my dogs, I typically put it in a little peanut butter and let them have it off of their plastic spoon- that's why they know how to eat from a spoon lol

I do not think that is a good idea. I am a dog owner and there is no way that I would do that. I think that it is gross but that is just my opinion. I have heard of dog owners doing that. But it is not my cup of tea.

I have to say the ice cream is not good for dog.My friend told me that her neighbor's dog was blind because she gave it much ice cream every summer!!! I always think it's the best only to eat dog special food. But if my puppy sniffs or licks my food because of my careless,I will give the food to him and be careful next time.I will never be on purpose to feed him the human food. Now my dog's fur is very bright,I feet him the ProPlan.
