For the first 500 years of the Christian church, universal salvation was the prevailing doctrine of a large majority of the Christian church. To find the evidence that this is so, type into Google
books prevailing
Universalism The Prevailing Doctrine of the Christian Chuch Dring Its First Five Hundred Years
The author, J.W. Hanson wrote "The salient statements and facts in all which will be found in these pages show that the most and ablest of the early fathers found the deliverance of all mankind from sin and sorrow specifically revealed in the Christian Scriptures."
Up until now, after reading this post, many believers in enternal torment has said something like, "I truly sympathize with your sufferings, but it's what the Bibl says that matters, not whether or not it makes you suffer." That's why I want to say right at the outset that many of the links posted here show that a correctly (literally, not interpretively) translated Bible actually teacher universal salvation, not eternal torment, or even annihilation.
The idea that God lets anyone suffer forever has caused me more suffering than all the other sufferings of my life combined.
The suffering was caused by the fear produced by not being able to love a god who would let anyone suffer forever and wondering what this god would do to me for not being able to love him. Even though I was and am trusting for my salvation in what Jesus accomplished by His eath and resurrection, through the power and in the blood of His cross, I was, and still am unable to love a god who would let anyone suffer forever.
You can Good up many similar testimonies by type in
tentmaker hells fruit (small case letters)
If you are like me and cannot love a god who would let nyone suffer forever, you can Google up THESAVIOUR OF THE WORLD SERIES and fid ot that a literally (not interpretively) translated Bible actually teachers universal salvation, not even annihilation.

Don't kid yourself. If anyone suffers forever JESUS IS DOING IT TO THEM

Personally I find Christianity to be one huge waste of time, energy and talents for most of the people that partake in it.
It's not even the fact that it's bad or restrictive (it is) but the fact that it's so very very useless. The problem is that one cannot see that, until one has something to compare it with.
I compare it with my psychedelic trips and explorations. And once you have tested that for yourself, even once, you will know how weak and impotent Christian rituals and actions are.
Now here's the catch: Christians forbid the use of any psychedelics, cause of course they come from the Devil, and also anything you learn from them and their Visions, is just a clever trap to 'tempt' you away from the true path. Of course :D
My way says only: try for yourself, any plant that's safe, and any religion you might think fits you, and then choose whichever you find better.
Peace :D

Hell is, and has never been anything other than,a fiction invented by religions in an attempt to gain power and followers by bludgeoning people into line through threats and fear. As as Deist, I reject this tactic; it is nothing but empty words. Without evidence to back it up, the tattered specter of eternal torment should not sway a rational mind in the least. No one has anything to fear from this myth. The doctrine of Hell is constructed to appeal to the emotions, but collapses when examined by simple conscience or logic.
