About 2 weeks ago, someone gave us a baby tomato plant that they have been growing in their house in a pot. I've been watering the plant regularly, but the leaves are starting to die and it is now 3 feet tall with barely any leaves and an extremely small stock. The plant can not support itself so I staked it today, but now the only leaves that are on the plant is at the very top. I'm trying to find out if I should just cut it loose and start over with a brand new plant. Was this plant already doomed before I got it? I was doing some reading and noticed that tall spindly plants like the one that I have are not good which is the way that I got it. Now it is even taller and spindlier and it has almost no leaves!!! Help...before my boyfriend gets home from being out of town. I don't want him to come home to find out that I killed his tomato plant :-)...:-(. Don't know what to do!!!!

tomato plants - They have a season unless you are growing in a hothouse/greenhouse.
May have gotten to much water and plus if you don't have proper lighting like grow lights and things like that in the house the plant is gunna die. Tomato season is over. When was the last time it got plant food? Don't know if it is getting cold there yet or not but tomato's don't like cold either so really he shouldn't be to mad at ya especially over a plant.

After so long a plant such as that can no longer live in a pot. it needed to be planted out side were some of the dat the sun would hit it and the rest of the day it will be in the shade. And if it is only in the pot thats why because dirt gives it nutrisionas well. and it needs something to hold it up but it can also be on the ground some. as watering it just maybe once a day if the dirt is still wet dont water it because then your drowning the plant
