Along with the ideas already mention, try shopping at thrift or consignment stores for towels, sheets, clothes etc. These are also a good source for furniture items. Also try craigslist for furniture, cars, etc., some things you can even get for free. If you are a parent try starting a babysitting cooperative and exchange babysitting for free time. Get together with a friend or neighbor and take turns driving to the grocery store, unless of course you can walk.

I think the best thing to do is to buy only things which we really need. Avoid impulsive buying and spend only when it is necessary. When we earn our salary it would be best to set aside even a little amout for us to save rather than spend all of it because when the time comes that we would badly need money we might just regret that we spent all of it just for nothing or for something that it not really important. We should always take note that once we spent our money we could not take it back anymore. Money is not everything but we need it to survive our daily lives.
