As a boy scouts adviser i always go camping with my boys, I take my 10 year old son everytime. In a couple of days it will be the Boy scout Jamboree of our province and it will be an outdoor adventure again for me. Fishing, a lot of contests on knot tying, rock climbing, survival training and cooking etc. I love the outdoors very much, camping is just one of the way i can enjoy it, and do my job at the say time.
How about you? How do you like to spend time outdoors?

I love doing outdoors activities such as jungle tracking, fishing, snorkeling etc but I would pass on camping as I can't stand having to spend a night without proper toilet.
I do not mind not having electricity or other electrical related stuffs. I still can live happily without those things. However, I would have a problem if I do not get a proper toilet. Bathing and showering is still okay but toilet where I need to do the big thing, I would need a proper one.
When I was still small my parents would take me to my grandparent's place that was by the sea. During those old time, there was no proper toilet. Everybody would go to the see, dig a hole in the sand and do their business there. I was horrified! I had to go very early in the morning so that it was still dark and nobody was around.
I could never do it when people are around, even though that they were doing the same thing. Luckily now that whole village already has proper water supply and toilets.
Since that day, I would have problem with camping. Cheers!

Haha, afraid of the Cat hole method? Thats a very nice history you got there friend, we share the same experience, are you from the philippines too? well as a scouter i have many solution for that, several types of latrine can be applicable depending on the location of the camp. having to take care of many boys during the camp with such a short time of preparation i find the deep hole method the best. this is done by digging a hole into the ground approximately 4 feet deep, the dug material are piled nearby, using various materials,(bamboo is the most suitable) the we make a makeshift toilet on top of it, the hole has a cover, of course there is also a wall made up of canvas erected around it for privacy. everytime somebody use it they have to shovel dirt from the pile of dug material to bury the treasure and prevent flies from strolling on them. anyway your adventures are fun too, i love to fish but i'm not a very good swimmer so i stick to the boat and dont dive. happy posting

I like that. I love hiking, going to mountains and traveling per se. I enjoyed a lot to be with nature and spend time with natural things on earth. They just refresh your mind thus giving you a very light and smooth sense of thought.

When the weather is nice, I love spending time outside. My husband and I bought a travel trailer 2 summers ago and love taking it to the lake and camping right on the lake with the kids. The kids go kyaking and fishing while my husband and I just enjoy being outsind in the fresh air.

I haven't been camping in years, but it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I even bought (well, got one as a gift for Christmas last year as a request) one last year at Christmas hoping to go camping in it sometime this year. Unfortunately, I've never been able to though. I think I would really really enjoy it even today if I could actually go. But unfortunately it is like every time I try to go, something comes up where I can't. But

I enjoy camping, unless it is camping in the desert. Whoever invented desert camping was out of their mind.... I also don't like camping in the snow... What's wrong with some people. Camping is supposed to be in the canyons in the middle of the summer... oh yeah by a nice little lake or bubbeling stream.

i love outdoor activities but i have no time to do it. it wonderful that u have a boy, i do have 2 girls. Though, i can still do it as well with them but my biggest problem really is time. As a working mom, i only spend a little time with my kids and sometimes even weekends i still have to work. But whenever i'm home, i make sure that i spend quality time with them. since my 2nd child is still a 5months baby, i have to stay home and take care of her...
But if i will be given the chance to do the outdoor thing, i would love to do it with my children as well.

I am very keen on the great outdoors and camping in different locations. In my younger days I traveled in my one man tent that weighed just 1.9kg. I remember camping in it along the Abel Tasman Track and the Queen Charlotte Walk in New Zealand. Day three of that second walk in the Malborough Sounds was a demanding 9 hour walk some it was over a narrow ridge way. I put my tent up and got inside for a lovely rest after such a challenging day. I took my tent to Hinchinbrook Island in Australia. The campsite there had a bush toilet and water came from a nearby creek. I now have a toddler son and took him and my two dogs camping to Devon this summer.

you are really into travelling friend, i love dogs too in camping. well i cant enjoy it though if i have to camp alone. I ussually bring someone with me like friends, my son, my students. choosing the best campsite and having great activities with love ones will make the experience even greater. our next campsite is near the estuary on a white sand beach with plenty of coconut trees, how about your site?

I love to go camping, my husband and I used to go camping at least two to three times a year. We haven't been in a really long time now, and I do miss it.
Every year up unto about three years ago, my husband and I were in charge of the camping trip for the youths at our church. It was always a fun time. We would get to go canoing, archery, rock climbing, fishing etc. At night we would build a hugh bonfire and tell scary stories, roast hot dogs and marshmallows and just have a fun time. The children always enjoyed exploring the woods, one time someone even said they saw a bear.

oh thats nice, bonfires really give life to the camping nights, but telling scary stories is not recommended, it give a psychological side effect to children. the bonfire part is a good time to share the day's events and experiences with one another. fortunately we dont have grizzlies and black bears here in our country, but the most viscious animal ive met in the wild is a monkey, it not big, but it sure is wild. you just have to be careful when you are in the woods. have a nice day.

Hi there!
I like the mountains hehe. Usually we go climb the holy mountain Mount Banahaw every Holy Week. We spend there 2 nights and 3 days of adventure. I have been going up there for 8 years. It's not only adventure but we get to do some sacrifices cause its hard being up there with only few water and food and without the comfort of bed. I was once a girl scout too and have experienced camping before when I was still a kid so I have learned the basics of survival.
Outdoors are nice place to relax and spend time with nature. I like to appreciate nature and hear the wild birds chirping. Up in Mt. Banahaw, you can actually feel the clouds touching your skin. Its such a wonderful place to feel fresh air.
Sadly the mountain has been closed for climbers. A lot of people have abused the holy place and making it dirty. Only few climb now and they require permit. But I think the people of Tiaong, Quezon has made a good decision in preserving Mt. Banahaw.
Ciao!

I miss my Girl Scout days.. I used to join camping when i was still in grade school. I think I have joined 3 provincial jamborees during my 4th to 6th grade. I was so happy to be part of that activity and it always brings back good memories of the other girls who became my friends during the 5-day camping activity. We had a lot of fun and activities like singing, cheering, knot tying, dancing and others. We also did tree planting. Oh, I miss those times!

i have to say that this year was the first time i have been camping for years and the first time with the kids.we all enjoyed it very much and looking forward to doing again.the girls had more fun that if we had stayed in a mobile home like we have before.the only problem we had was takeing everything with us as my youngest is disabled and worrying if all her meds would be safe in the tent.even though it was raining like any british summer does it was graet.i spose its what you make it.if your grumpy its gonna b crap

oh thats great, i love adventure myself, camping in the rains really challenges me. here in our country we dont have mobile homes, tents are the most common camping shelter. its really hard to have someone with disability in camping but we should let them enjoy it too right, it's only a matter of patience, and preparedness for everything. stay safe out there. have a nice day.
