Why is it that movie popcorn tastes so good. Is it the high price they charge us for it? Popcorn made at home does not even start to taste that good. What can I add to my made at home popcorn to make it taste like movie popcorn? I tried butter and salt and anything else I could think of, but have had not luck.

yes dear they use sufficient quantity of salted butter!!
you can also do it at home!!
here we get packets loaded with butter and salt and popcorn . we have to just heat it and we get the same quality!!
we enjoy it in the family!!

It is because of a special type of "butter" that you can't typically buy in a store. It's very bad for you and is loaded with saturated fat. I think it has coconut oil in it, if I have the name right, and that is very bad for you, as well. It is so unhealthy, but oh so good! I am a popcorn addict myself and have also tried to duplicate that movie-popcorn taste, but to no avail. I would imagine you could get it at an industrial or restaurant supplier, but you may have to buy a 50-gallon barrel of it LOL! Good luck in your quest for good home-made popcorn!

I think its more on psychological that makes pocorn in movies taste better. If you would look at it, it is still popcorn but the only difference there is that it just cost more and when you buy it the smell of popcorn is all over the place which tempts you to also buy one for yourself. I think cheeze flavor taste really nice. hehe I think its much enjoyable to eat popcorn when you share it with someone rather than just eating it al by yourself. hehe
I think some people but a little butter before cooking popcorn, maybe that could also be one reason why their popcorn tastes good. hehe

I'm also using butter and salt to my homemade popcorn but so far I find it as good as those sold in the moviehouses. I'm using anchor butter and I'm putting a lot of butter to make sure it will really taste. You have to shake it well to make sure the butter is evenly distributed. Maybe those sold in the moviehouses have msg so it may taste better to you. I don't use msg though.

You are certainly correct about movie popcorn. My husband does not even like popcorn, but if we go to the movie, you will find his hand digging into the bucket. I think maybe because it's popping and bouncing around in that machine, and the butter is able to get to all of the kernels, plus they use popcorn salt, which is very fine, unlike table salt. And if you order it with extra butter, that is an added bonus.
Yeah, I agree the prices are so expensive, going to the movie nowadays is something you have to plan and save for especially if you have children. It can easily cost $20.00 per person, admission, and snacks, now the video games while you wait to get in.

haha. i think it is the mind at work. in the cinema, the environment is very much different. u only have your popcorn and movie to look at so you are focus and enjoy them. while at home, the environment is very much different and your mind are less focus than in the cinema so u tend to pay attention to savy the taste and would think they are different cos you may have other things going on at the same time
