Why Can't I Attach a File to a GMail Message Anymore?

And does anyone know if it will return soon?
The ability to attach a file seems to have disappeared over the weekend. I waited until today in case it was a glitch but I have mail I need to send with attachements soon.
I really, REALLY do not want to configure an e-mail client on my desktop.
