Personally, I don't want to have a tattoo. I just tried having a henna tattoo since it will be erased after two weeks.
My impression on people having tattoos is that they are tough and quite bullish. Here in the Philippines, most of the prisoners put tattoos on their body. But now, even ordinary people have tattoos. Some have those colorful ones. I think some are pleasantly made but some are quite creepy already.

I do not like tattoo's at all. You are right that most of the bullies have tattoo's now or those who are doing time or have served time. I'm not saying all the people with tattoo's are bad, but most people are at least very mean people.

That's quite a generalization cowgirl - sounds very prejudiced to me. I think that in this day and age, that statement is completely untrue. I know A LOT of people with tattoos and I can't think of one of them that is a bully or a bad person.

I do not like tattoos either. My nephew has many tattoos on both arms, like sleeves, and one one his chest. He loves them and even said that they are addicting to get. He does get strange looks from other people at times. He also feels like he has to wear long sleeves to go to church, to a wedding or just to dress up for dinner. I asked him why he feels that way and then why did you get them? He said he got them because he thinks they are cool and he wants to be a drummer in a rock band someday, he is working towards that goal.He says he wears the long sleeves in respect to his Mom and Dad when they go out. I think he wears the long sleeves because he gets tired of others looking at him the way they do at times. I have seen some great art in tattoos, but I chose to have my art on the wall.

That is what I told him. He chose to get them as a form of self expression, so he should not hide them. Many great people in our history even had tattoos, many service men of all generations got them for winning battles or just because they were over seas, whatever the reason. It is not a new kind of expression or art, it has been going on for centuries. I just thing that some of the tats are getting to be a bit much and maybe even a little too many, however it is their form of expression. Let them have it.

I think that tattoos are an art form. To say that people that have tattoos are bullish or mean (or whatever) is really judging a book by it's cover. I have 3 tattoos: a rather large cross with morning glory flowers on my back (a memorial), a lotus flower on my shoulder, and an ankh on my ankle. I am a hypnotherapist, massage therapist, addiction specialist, and personal trainer. I am by no means "bullish," and I have never been to prison. All of my tattoos have meaning and all can be covered by clothes.
Really, it is a matter of choice. Personally, I like nice looking tattoos. Some people judge others and decide how they are just because they have tattoos. Here in California, many people have tattoos. I have seen very young people and even senior citizens with nice tattoos.

I would say the one doing the tatoo has a talent of art, but the one wearring the tatoo does not.

I won't want to have a tattoo, I am just not that type of person who likes to put a tattoo on my body. It's really painful, also you can't take it off forever. But I think tattoo is an art. I heard from my friend, how the person did the tattoo, it's really artistic, and it requires high skill to do that.

i guess tatooes have emerged not only as a form of art but also a form of fashion to some people.Artists have a lot of tatooes in their bodies,as well as ordinary people.
But for me,i would not like to have a tatoo.A henna tatoo might not hurt since it fades after a few weeks but my skin might get alergies if i put one on.So i gueess i would just be contented on looking on the artistic tatooes on others body part..

Peoples with tattoo on their body's part will surely attract an attention from others. We always saw in the movie where the bad guy always have a tattoo anywhere behind their clothes. So, that's why we have some bad impression regarding the tattoo. Actually, if we look on the other side, we can say that tattoo is sort of art because it's not easy to do it either for people who do it or people who wear it. It's requires knowledge and skill to do the real tattoo. So for me, only person who're blessed with the art skill can do or makes the tattoo. Anyway, my opinion are same like MAROSEQF which is to reject the tattoo. I don't want the permanent tattoo because I think it will create a lot of trouble for me in the future.

That is a good idea! However, I think that Hollywood would continue to write the way they want to. It is, however, up to us to educate those around us that wouldn't know anything but that stigma that Hollywood puts out there. I think if we did that with the people around us then your idea would soar to great leaps and bounds!

Maybe we should change the mindset of filmmakers first so they will view the tattoo from another different aspect.

In my opinion, tatoos are a sort of art, as long as you don't go overboard. Having too much are too much. I prefer having a tatoo as something symbolic in my opinion since I am planning to get one after high school/my 18th, like a word in japanese on my forearm to cover up a scar from a tragic accident, and a barcode at the back of my neck. But it all depends on how people interpret things with what they see these days. I've seen the silicon 3D tattoos and I think they are a waste of money.
In case you don't know what a silicon 3D tattoo is, it's people putting silicon gel implants under your skin making it bulge out in an unfashionable matter.

Yes, tattoo is an art. Almost everything around us is considered an art in different ways. I have tried henna tattoo once and yes it looked cool at first. But once they get thinner, they become not too good to look at anymore. You want to get rid of it already. To others, real tattoo is a form of self expression. Some even do it to their whole body, some set world records. That's how they express themselves for the world to see.

Whether you pick a tattoo off the wall or design it yourself it still represents where you were at that point in your life. It is all an artform because you have artists that draw it on your body. Its not for everyone, but my saying is 'to each their own'....meaning, its your personal choice. Some are beautiful, some not so much, either way, its your body, do with it as you please.

I absolutely think tattos are beautiful. I think guys that have them are that much more attractive. They are a wonderful way for people to express themselves and were art on their body. I have 3 already and can't wait to get more. Unfortunately our society still looks down upon people who have them, even though it has become very common. It can hurt you especially when looking for a job. But I love them.
