I like reading books to gain knowledge too. I don't have good reading skills, but I am very good at reading audiobooks at getting a lot out of them. If I read a real book, it will take me 6 months to a year to finish. I'll know the material once I'm done with it, but it takes so long it is unrealistic for me to read that way.

Reading is a very useful skill. When we are little, we learn to read; when we mastered the skill, we read to learn. Aside from other methods, reading is one way to expand one's knowledge. Books are a treasure trove of ideas that one can learn and appreciate.
Furthermore, for readers like me, reading brings plenty of enjoyment. Since I read fiction predominantly, it gives me a change to escape the humdrum of daily existence and for a few brief hours spend some time in a magical world created by words and an author's imagination.
So yes, there are plenty of benefits in reading.

I am very fond of books! I believe books are one's best friends. They are faithful companions which can be carried any place where you want them! They are the treasure of knowledge and give an entirely different perspective to life!
Among the different mediea of education I thinks books are the best form and the can br stored throughout the life in the form of libraries. For that matter I have my own lbrary compraising my technical and non technical books!
In books the knowledge is stored in black and white which ishanded over from one generation to another generation! A good book is much more valuable than any Gem stone or precious metal.
Our todays life if analysed carefully is based on the science and philosophy of the past which hasben handed over to us in the form of books!
I love books and as I told ,when ever go to any book shop try to make it a point to add a book to my collection. I am a voracious reader and I like to read the books. Books not only will give us knowledge but then it will take ou to a different world of fantacies where you are the creator of the particular imaginary world! This is the magic of the books.same passage written by a author may be percieved in adifferent manner by a different reader. This is not possible with other medias like videos etc. Thus imgination playsba vitalpart in reading.
Well the role of books is known to evry one of us ! They play very important role in our student life ! They form the foundation for education.
I have got some very good books with me and keep on reading books once , twice thrice and even more when ever I get time. And believe me the more times I read a book my perception about the topic gets changed and every time I get some thing new in the book!
Thus books are the best friends in our life and I always liked books and want to be with them as much as possible! Thanks for the interesting topic og discussion!

I enjoy reading books...mainly the Bible and books that help me draw closer to God.
I usually read at night before going to sleep. I am almost finished reading the Mitford Series by Jan Karon...There are 6 or 7 books in the series. They are about a pastor and his life...its clean and you want to keep reading to see what happens next...There are pages I have marked because of what is said on the page that has taught me something...It is usually something so very simple but very important and life changing.
I enjoy reading stories like that and have thought often to write about my life...I need to pray about this first and go from there...
When I read the Bible, I learn something every time.Even if I have read the same part before, I learn something new...Talk about wisdom, love, joy, peace, and so much more...
I also enjoy reading books about other peoples lives and how they have coped with whatever they went through and what the outcome was. True Stories.
I agree with you about reading to forget problems and things going on around me...It is a good way to(I guess the word would be escape) especially now with all that is going on around us. But, knowing the Lord, I have peace. Thank you for asking this question...and I hope you enjoy my answer...Have a Blessed Day!

I try to read books that are a little bit challenging just to keep my brain as sharp as it could be. Furthermore when i read books it really helps keep my reading speed and retention at its highest. This is really useful as when im reading articles or my textbooks i can get through it that much faster.
