I can't see this being true, although in these present market conditions, you never do know. If they were to close down, then this would ruin Ebay, as Paypal runs basically for ebay to run smoothly with a safe way of transferring money, most of the time, I would imagine that Paypal acts more as a Third party or intermediate, and makes its money from the percentage cut it takes for the transactions. It is not exposed to Bad debts or loans etc which is partly the reason for the present financial Crises that we are now in.

nah...its only rumors or hoax....paypal is only a 3rd partny, it not like banks.... there are many banks thats still strong in their foot..especially goverment banks... thats way its only market sentiment to paypal, remember this kind of rumors spread instant whenever the day close to end of year, its spread mostly by stocks broker to get some moving in the stock market, of course the profit moving i may say... why can i say that, coz im also playing in stock market :D so this kind of news/rumors, u should ignore it, coz its hoax once again....this kind of rumors can make more crisis to the economic of course..... pardon me if im too emotional in this response, i just don't like this kind of rumors.... trust me....

I truly hope your right ont his matter. I would hate to lose money in my paypal account and so many people use it. But I too doubt they would go under because I do believe Ebay and Paypal have the same owners or so I've heard.

This is a ridiculous rumor! Do you know how many online places depend on paypal to continue running? Without paypal, many OTHER things would go under, I don't believe businesses are in the practice of slashing their own throats.

no, i think it is false information with it. paypal ia a worldwide big financial company,an ebay owned firm.so i think it is impossible to close under this financial crisis.even now the economy is not good at this moment.but i think paypal is not easy to be bankrupt.and now a lot of people use paypal all over the world.lol happy myloting.

I don't think that Paypal will close up due to this unless people stop using there service. I hope that never happens. I personally like the service and I am thankful that they offer it. I use it often as I buy and sell online.

Hopefully ; Paypal is strong enough to come out of this economic situation . As such I have not read any news on Paypal .In fact , American Airlines recently added Paypal as a Payment option for Tickets booked on AA.com . Check : www.marketwatch.com/

where did you get this news. do you have any link to substantiate this. rumours in time of crisis is a normal thing to float around. paypal i feel is owned by ebay. its true banks have shut down that is true. do you feel paypal is in the business of lending money like banks. i dont think so paypal does anything other than just acting as a payment processor. anyone who knows much better than me shold come forward and clarify.
