well all the stores have all the christmas stuff out. they are playing the music and everything to me it seems to early. i mean they had it out with halloween stuff and it is still not even thanksgiving lol. i think it has to do with sales being down so much they are hoping we start spending money we dont have early lol. when do you start putting up your christmas decorations at home though. we usally do it the day after thanksgiving. i go shopping on black friday and then when i get home tired and grouchy we put them up lol. it puts me in a better mood all except haveing to go through the lights and fix those. we have about 40 strands we put out with the big inflatable santas, reindeer etc. not to mention the tree. the only part of christams my husband likes is the lights. the gift thing and shopping he doesnt like at all he thinks it is just the gvt getting us to spend money and if you look around this year that is what it is like.

My parents and I start placing Christmas decorations in stages. We usually begin around mid-November. We place exterior decorations such as lighted trees, santa statues, and reindeer. On the inside we place wreaths and other small decorations on the walls and windows. Early December we put the Christmas up and finish off with the other decorations!

Christmas the last few years has totally been a commercial Holiday. I mean you know it is bad when the economy hinges on how much people spend at Christmas. I put up my decorations Thanksgiving weekend. I haven't put my tree up the last couple of years because I usually spend Christmas at my parents house and I am afraid my darling little cat, Carlye will climb it and tear it down.

Never. I haven't decorated in years. Not since 1999 to be exact. That was the year that we left Houston and a community that actually "required" a certain amount of outside decoration, they had a theme each year and sent a flyer.
That was also the year that my youngest son, then 17, asked me why I decorated. His theory was as follows - I decorated for the kids (he was right).
He went on to tell me that I went to all this effort to make the house Christmasie. Then we left for Christmas, never spending Christmas at home. Right again. Then when we got home he and his brother were always tasked with taking down all the decorations, boxing them properly and storing them for the next year.
He finally said that this was a chore they had despised for years. They appreciated my efforts but didn't see the point since we were never at home for Christmas and Grandma also decorated (they didn't have to take those down).
So that was the last year. With the exception of a couple of family heirlooms I gave away or threw away all Christmas decorations after that year.

We usually decorate the house as early as October. And put it down late January.
Yeah! Christmas decorations are displayed that long in our house.
Its not for other reasons but we just love seeing christmas decorations, well, it sure reminds you of the Christmas spirit even if its a long way to go or a long time passed. And better to remember christmas is not only in december but should be lived the whole year round!
May we all have a merry christmas this year! cheers...

When I still lived at home, we used to decorate around the 1st of December, and we'd get a tree about a week or so before christmas. we always had real trees, so we didn't want to get them too soon, or else the needles will all fall off. Now in our tiny apartment we don't decorate, because we don't want the cat to destroy the decorations.

I have always decorated right after Thanksgiving but for the last few years I have been doing it one day before Thanksgiving Day so everything is set up for the dinner.

We will be doing that this week. It may seem early for some. But with a baby due Dec 10 we are trying to get everything ready. Seems almost like a race. I think the baby will win. Too early usually yes. But this year it works for us.

Hi Easymoney75503,
Yep, right after Thanksgiving I'll be putting up my decorations...my oldest daughter, who has a garage apartment in back of my house told me yesterday..."Do not decorate my house on the outside please" to this I said, fat chance...everything goes...she knows I go a little crazy with decorations...can't do as much as I'd like...:-( cause of my age...and of course, no one helps me...but I'll make it look nice and christmassy!!

We should have had decorated a few weeks ago but since my husband and I are too busy preparing for our baby, we didn't get to put it out. Anyway, our maid just put up our Chrismas tree. I wasn't able to help because I was taking care of our baby who was born just last week. Well, he is an advanced Christmas gift for us.
When I was still single and living with my parents, I was the one who decorates our house and our Christmas tree. I love feeling the spirit of the season through these decorations. It makes the environment warmer for the coming Holiday.

In India, we start placing decorations about 2 weeks before Christmas. Shops and establishments however start a little before that. But our Christmas is not like those in the US or Canada. Our Christmas is more low key. But the spirit is well and active among all. That's what counts most I guess

I put them up sometime in December. I only have a couple of small things, but it's okay because I have a small apartment.

I have all of my stuff out already while I had the chance and the help to put it out. I got the outside done already also before the cold weather hits. I will light it all up around Thanksgiving though.

Ok, I'm not a retailer, but I already set up my Christmas village this weekend and will probably work on the rest tomorrow since I'm off. I don't like to procrastinate, and if I wait too long, it will seem too soon before I have to take them down again. I usually wait until Thanksgiving also, but this year I'm ahead of schedule.

I take my time decorating the house. I take a week or two, starting after Thanksgiving, to get the house in shape. Furniture usually has to be moved for the tree and that I put up the week before Christmas. By Christmas Eve everythings done.

We may start having Christmas tree in our apartment before or after Thanksgiving night. Everytime we go to different stores I can't stop myself be amaze and adore the Christmas tree and its decoration. That's why I always remind my husband for it..hehe. He is not that excited unlike me.
