People, say that AC/DC isn't heavy metal. Then what the heck is it? People think that it you have long dark hair and wear band shirts and shop at Hot Topic, your a metal head. Not to mention, Hot Topic sells clothes for an unreasonable price. Good stuff, but it'll drain your wallet faster than you can say: "Cat in the hat!"

have you seen some previous yahoo stories. like top 10 heavy metal bands?
there was AC/DC and Aerosmith as far as I remember. and many disagrees including me. hehe

It seems that quite often, a lot of hard rock tends to be called heavy metal by some, & some bands that are classified as heavy metal, people consider as hard rock & not really considered metal.
Here's my list, even if some of these bands/musicians are not really considered heavy metal.
AC/DC
Black Sabbath
Cinderella
Deep Purple
Dio
Lita Ford
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest (Quite often, people refer to them as "Priest")
Yngwie Malmsteen
Doro Pesch (formerly of Warlock)
Queensryche
Rainbow
Runnaways (group involving by Lita Ford & Joan Jett)
Michael Schenker Group
Scorpions
Vixen
Warlock
Whitesnake
These bands/artists have either been "considered" heavy metal by some, or some of their music "crossed over" or are main influences on metal musicians
Aldo Nova
Jimi Hendrix (mainly as an influence for almost all of the guitarists)
Led Zeppelin
Queen
Other favorites of mine that have yet to be signed to major labels
Anti Trust
Bad Side
XEX (Not sure if their drummer ever recovered from a bad motorcycle accident)

Lets face it, there is not number 1 band of all time. It's like say who was the number 1 beauty of all time. I personally think it's me first, then mona Lisa second. XD
