yup, u r right. it has to begin in the mind and for that we need to know the full dangers of smoking. We should focus of the dangers of smoking not just to our health but also the health of our beloved ones who will be subjected to passive smoking. This should provide us with the needed motivation to atleast think about quitting.

To help make up ur mind u can think about the dangers of smoking not just to ur health but also the health of your loved ones and society in general who are subjected to passive smoking. This should motivate us to start thinking about quitting. That is the first step.

I had smoked for about 30 yeasr. was doing 1-1/2 pack a day. Cut backto 2 per week about 4 years ago. at that time I stared to just smoke out side. about 4 months ago I stared to walk when I smoked. Then 6 weeks ago with the grace of God I let him give me the victory And I took that victory and I claim it every day.

I never smoked in my life. I am almost 30 now and i never tried. Many people tried to persuade me to start smoking but i resisted. I dont like the smell, i dont like the smoke, I dont like nothing about it. I mean that I am not against the people who smoke and I always stay with them. But I still dont think that smoking is good. So better stop it.

Yes I smoke. I did quit last year for over six months then a friend of mine kept pushing me to smoke again. Hard to stop when they shove the cig right in your face and say come on you know you want it. I quit cold turkey when I did it. I don't smoke as much anymore. More of a social smoker.

i quit just over 5 months ago. cold turkey. i tried the slowing down, didnt help. i tried pills and patches, didnt help. the only thing that helped was really truly making up my mind that i wanted to quit.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for that.
I have been saying this for a long time.
I have tried patches as well, they did actually help to make me quite or a couple of weeks, then I stopped the patches and here we go .... start smoking!!!!
I had a good think about it today at work, and I am going to CONVINCE my wife that NOW is the time to quit.
If we can BOTH get our minds right, then it may work!
PS
A big + for you for that comment!

I quit smoking almost three years ago and still don't smoke. This is one of the hardest habits that I have quit. I quit smoking with SmokeAway and lots of hard candy.

I successfully quit over a year ago by using Nicorette gum to help me with my cravings. I think the key for my success was that I was really ready to quit, and I was doing it for the right reasons (not because someone else wanted me to). The Nicorette really did help with cravings - as long as I had it with me to use when I needed it, I was fine.

Im smoke free for almost a year now! I started smoking when i was 19yrs. old..i quit when i was 24. My secret? Commit yourself into it and psyche yourself everyday not to smoke..very simple right? But it takes discipline!

I got pregnant. But I feel that once you are a smoker you will always want to smoke. Avoid the temptations such as being around others when they smoke etc.
