Good News: myLot is an angel.
Bad News: myLot has an evil, identical twin brother!
I just found this site called MYLOTANSWERS through the whois record of myLot:
http://whois.domaintools.com/mylot.com
Mylotanswers is entirely, completely, and definitely a myLot clone! I don't know about you but I consider this one as a Phishing Site - a site that is designed to clone a legitimate site for the purpose of harvesting or collecting personal information such as usernames and passwords.
See for yourself (click the links below):
This is a link for the ORIGINAL mylot frontpage:
http://www.mylot.com
This one is from mylotanswers (FAKE):
http://www.mylotanswers.com
When you click the original, you'll probably see the member's frontpage since you're logged-in. But when you sign-out and visit the two domains, you'll notice that they're completely identical. Only the domains aren't the same.
I also tested it in myLot profiles:
(You can also try this one with your own profile URL)
Example is my profile page (Original):
http://www.mylot.com/ronreyes
And this one is mylotanswers':
http://www.mylotanswers.com/ronreyes
Now you'll see a big difference because the one from mylotanswers has a "Page Cannot Be Found" warning.
Something smells fishy huh!?!
Well it really fits since it is a phishing site.
And here's an addition to the smell.
I also found out that the site called TRYMYLOT http://www.trymylot.com is basically doing the same thing.
Personally, I think it's also affiliated with mylotanswers and was developed by the same punk who are trying to hack other people's accounts.
What shall we do now:
1.) Report it to the myLot police. Let's contact myLot and tell the administrators about this phishing activity. They'll be the one who will request this site to be taken down.
2.) Spread the news. Tell the people about this especially the ones that are under your referral (you can forward this discussion to them if you want). They should be aware.
Tips to avoid hacking in myLot:
3.) Strictly myLot. Before logging-in, make sure that you're in the right domain. Look at the address bar of your browser. Make sure that it's mylot.com, NOT mylotanswers.com, trymylot.com, or any other domains.
4.) Type it yourself. It's a good practice that everytime we sign-in to myLot, we should type the real myLot domain (www.mylot.com) by ourselves. As much as possible, avoid clicking a link from other sites or blogs that tells you to log-in using that particular link.
* You can also apply the same tips and process for your Paypal account, Adsense account, E-mail account(s), PTC account(s), Social Networking account(s), etc.
This will help us avoid wasting our efforts and hardwork due to the fact that our innocent accounts was hacked by a no-life freak.
Anyway, this is just a friendly reminder. I really think I should post this one for the benefit of all members.

We wanted to jump in and clarify the situation. The 2 specific sites that are mentioned here, myLotAnswers.com and TrymyLot.com, are both owned and operated by myLot.com. We use these sites for various purposes and they are not fake, spoof, spam or phishing sites. If you are using any of these three sites your posts will show up on all three and you will earn the same amount no matter where you post. However, you did find a bug on the profile page of myLotAnswers.com and we are working to fix this issue.
This does not mean that you should trust any site out there with myLot in the URL. We have been made aware of sites that are trying to spoof myLot.com and have worked to remove all known violators. If you come across another site that you have a question about please use the contact link at the bottom of any myLot page to send a message to us and we will let you know if it is a true myLot site or if it is a fake site. Remember, if in question you can always trust www.myLot.com.

Thank you for the warning. I usually type the correct address in but sometimes we all need reminders to be aware of the ways we can be conned on the internet. So many people think it is safe and don't take as much care as they would when in 'life' situations.

WHOAH!
Freaky to say the least.
I did mylotanswers only.
It is a duplicate of mylot.
I am reporting it to mylot admin right away as this is an infringement on copyrights.
Unless this is also a mylot page. But it all has the same info as mylot.
Including the same amount of members and guidelines etc. Hmmm?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

adihindu, if these sites are run by mylot why is it every time you try to move to another page you get the message? Every time I remind you. Not once in awhile, everytime. And what proff do you have they are run by mylot administration as well? I am curious about this.

How do you guys report a site as phishing site without proper confirmation. They are not the scam sites or phishing sites. They are just the alias of mylot. Please check it in response 41 and first response comments. Reporting a site as scam or phishind one will lead to loss of site reputation. Mylot will automatically sign of your account if you are inactive for a certain period and this was only entirely our security purpose. Normally you will find this in many banking sites and some other sites saying "Your session has expired". myLot.com, trymylot.com, mylotanswers.com are same sites. And these said two sites are maintained and owned by myLot only. Thank you GRANDPA BOB.

That's why I think Admin should be warned about this. I like it here and don't want it destroyed because of some no life idiots.

Thank you very much for your concern. I am sure this will be highly appreciated by the whole myLot country. As we all know, many sites are trying to do what myLot has been doing and most of them fail. Unlike myLot, they do not have the foundation - us, members. We keep myLot strong by staying here and I am grateful to be a part of it.

I was attracted by the topic. The arguments were logical and acceptable based on the facts presented. Before jumping to fixed conclusions it is better to search for more information. Someone else commented and had something different to say. I guess the final word lies in the hands of MyLot admin

Thanks for the information . Now ; whether it is deliberate or unintentional is not clear .
However; we need to remain vigilant of such sites.

Great, great findings ronreyes, i just checked out this site and it looks exactly identical with the original mylot site, you know whats surpring is the population there, is like when our population is growing over here it automatically update their system too
Whats the solution to all this?, i think i'm about to contact admin about it, what you think we send mails like at the same time and in this way the site will be loked at quickly and alert will be sent to all mylot mails to let them know of a scam site
What you think?

Hello,
good job! Thanks to alert us about that.
Till now i saw phishing sites of banks, online money managers, but is the first time i see someone that wanna steal some bucks in a site like mylot.
According to the policies of mylot, maylot don't allow to use the same paypal account for more than a mylot account, that means that, also having our usernames and passwords, to steal our money, they should make 150 thousands of fake paypal accounts! What a job!
The great in the people, is that they never stop to wonder you ;)

Thanks Ron, I appreciate the time you took to investigate this but it seems that all is not what it seems. I still will just stick with the Mylot.com and leave the others alone because you just never really know. It is strange that they would make 3 sites that login to each other. So as I said I am sticking with the first original and leaving the other sites to the others.

I don't think it is a phishing site since the registered company is the same for both urls. Many companies do register more than one domain name and redirect them to the same url. © ronaldinu 2008
