My boyfriend and I heard about a company called blue hippo, where you can get a top of the line brand new computer without a credit check blah blah, we were interested because Ive known a few people that have gotten a computer from there but never asked them how it worked so anyways we called them last night and when my boyfriend asked how it worked the guy started asking for our address and his name and all this so my BF says NO I want to know how this works, the pricing and hos payments work, So finally the guy tells him that you pay 100 dollars to start and then its 35 dollars and some change a week, so my BF tells the guy that were not interested, that we thought it was like a monthly payment and we didnt want to pay that much, the guy keeps talking, Tells my BF that you can pay it monthly all you have to do is add it up for the month and pay it at the begining of the month So my boyfriend had to just quickly say sorry were not interested and basically hang up on the guy, Is this how so many people have gotten into the situations there in these days? with salesmen saying oh just do it even though you yourself have said you cant afford it.
I mean shouldn't that be illegal? It just dawned on me this morning what happened with that conversation last night but thats just wrong. and looking back its not the first sales person that has done that, I just never really thought about it cause everyone wasn't hurting financially so badly before.

That is how good salesmen get people to buy. They dont accept no for a reason to end the call. They will continue till you hang up on them. And yes there are people who cant find a way to them and get hooked even though they cant afford it. The salesman gets his commission he doesnt care what happens to the other person once he gets his sale.

Now..it's true that sales men/women get commission; but not all do. There are some sales people that are salaried and merely make a certain amount regardless of how many salees they make.
Some sales people do care what happen to the people they speak to..
I do sales but sales I do are per request of business people seeking Payroll Services.
I care about each person I talk to ..and if we can't meet their needs I tell them so ..that we are not capable of doing what they ask.
It is not good to lie to someone about something you will or wont do ....The truth is always to be found..

Just last week i was at the mall. I have really long hair and i always wear it up and for the first time in a while i wore it down. I was walking through the mall and outta NO WHERE some guy grabs my hand! I was like WTF and it was someone selling curling irons and straighteners that where like 100 dollars! I always want to curl my hair and i do have curling irons but since my hair is so straight long thick and heavy it never really holds. This curling iron would hold it and he was showing me and combing the curls and showing how they wont come out. When he told me the price I'm like no i cant afford it. I work in the mall so i make like next to nothing i have a car payment insurance gas cell phone. I finally just bought it so i could leave they seriously wouldn't let me walk away until i bought it i had to put it on my credit card which all ready had a couple hundred dollars on it! So i added another 100 dollars just to walk away! I was so p*ssed off. I do like the curling iron though and you can do different curls like tight loose spiral. I have done my hair at night and it stayed in over night for work the next day. I was saying i don't have the money and they would NOT let me walk away. I was like WTF.
I admit i did want to get a more professional curling iron from salleys which run about 60 - 80ish not 100 percent on the price. Depends on the brand and the size you get. That is expensive but still cheaper then 100 dollars and i would have bought that when i had the money. I hate the carts in the middle of the mall it makes me NOT want to shop there. Also the mall is under so much construction it makes it unenjoyable also. Unfortunately i live right down the street that i go there because it is so convient and pointless for me to drive 20 or so minutes to go to a different mall with the same stores just to avoid all of that.
So yes i did end up in a situation like that where i ended up spending money just to get the sales person to leave me alone. Sorry that was so long!

I dont like going to the mall for that reason either, that and theres just WAY to many people there lol, but I dont care if they have to make a living or not if someone tells them they cant afford it and no thank you, dont keep begging, I dont feel like thats being a good sales person because your supposed to be representing the company your working for and thats not good representation, Like I am sure you will avoid going anywhere near that cart in the middle of the mall that sells the curling irons, I will not be be calling Blue Hippo anymore.

That is exactly what i do. Unfortunately i work in the mall so i see the cart a lot but i purposely walk on the other side of the mall now. Not that that even helps because there are carts over there. The same day as the curling iron these people from a cart was trying to sell me face stuff and hand stuff and i was trying to tell them i have it because i honestly do my mom bought it, and they where like we have new products. I am like i don't care. I started being rude to them and i felt bad but i was in a bad mode from the curling iron people. Maybe they will get rid of the carts though because they are trying to become a more upscale mall. I can only hope!

I would not tell them anything more I would just walk away or hang up on them. I have had people call me and try to sell me stuff and I just say no thank you and hang up. If they will not listen to you when you first tell them you do not want the item or big bill tell them that you are going to take your business elsewhere.

Well, at least you had the option to hang up lol. Awhile back I'd called to order the "doggy steps" I'd seen on tv. As soon as the computer answered the phone, it took my credit card information- I gave it since I knew I was going to order the product. Well, before the order could be finalized... I had to listen to about a dozen other sales offers from this computer person, and had to wait for the entire sales speach for each product to be over and then say "NO".. and then I'd get "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that response, you want to order, right?" . I was on the phone for 45 minutes, and then finally got through their "other offers" and then it tried to get me to pay extra for faster delivery (they said it could take 6 weeks without paying extra)...which I said NO to, and finally got the order placed. I didn't pay for the faster delivery and still got the product in about a week. From now on, if I can't buy it in a store I'm doing it online lol

I used to work at a call center that placed orders for the products that you seen on TV. If you don't want to hear all of the extra offers, you can tell the person that you don't want to hear anymore offers and most call centers have a system in place where they can call a supervisor over and be allowed to skip the offers.

And that is why so many people are in the debt they are in today. People by things that they can't afford when they think they hear about a huge deal coming their way. Then when they try and get the information they are pressured into buying the product. That guy on the phone was just doing his job and trying to make commission, but companies should really start being smarter about these types of things instead of setting people up for failure in exchange for a quick buck.

It's true. I once got pressured into buying a Kirby vacuum cleaner that I really didn't need and cost like 1500 bucks. It took me 3 years to pay off that darn thing and that's because I used a tax return check to pay off the 800 dollars that I still owed on it.

ohhh well, that's what you call sales people... :)
most of them would do that... they do insist for the people to buy things so they could achieve their quota...

Keep in mind that sales people are trying to earn a living too..Part of being a good sales person is having a comeback reply when someone says no.. I know there are good ways and bad ways to sell..but sales people are trying to make a living too.
I use to hang up and be impolite and even hateful towards telemarketers until I began my job that required I call up some folks that required quotes for payroll services.
Even though they requested the quotes, some people can be very unreasonable ..Even though they asked a quote and knew many would call to give it..some folks are not very nice about saying "no"
I know where you are coming from ...I bet you though.. if you explain that you understand they are doing their job but don't need their service..they will be happy and let you alone.

That's the sales world. I can assure you, as a former call center employee, that those sales people hate doing it also. Sometimes I get calls for people asking for my for the police association and stuff. I tell them no, they ask again, and I tell them no again. They called the other day and I told them I didn't have any money to send...not even 15 dollars. That's the truth, too. I am budgeted very tight right now. Anyway, those people have to ask you again if you say no because it's their job. I know it, so I am calm about it. I know a lot of the rules these places operate on, so I am not worried about getting pressured or hearing upsells. I just listen to them and calmly say "no" because I used to hate getting yelled at for doing my job.
