English is not my mother tongue ! I am from India where we have more than 800 local languages which is a record in itself. English is one of our official language!
In India along with local language Enlish is taught in schools. In variably English is there as one of the langiage in schools.
Some schools do have the entire teaching medium in English and because of which English is taught in schools right from the childhood when a kid enters his primary class.
Thus for me English is any other language from my mother tongue as I am well versed with this language as othe languages as I have been trained in this language right fro my hild hood!
I do read and write alot , and by doing so we are improvig our Enlish reading and writing skill! Learning a language and aquiring efficiency in that language is a definitely two different things.
Any language, it takes a lot of efforts to get proficiency in it and English is not any exception to it!
Thus if you want to increase yourEnglish skill I would advisse you to read English News papaers, books ,listen to English News, see English movies and English programmes etc. This will improve your English !
Thanks ! It was a nice topic of discussion! I liked my participation!

Maybe the total immersion method can work for you, it did for me.
Malaysia had four school streams. There were Malay, English, Chinese, and Tamil. Malay is the first official language, and English is the second official language.
I was selected to enter a full boarding school (MARA Junior Science College) which had English as the language for instruction. MARA wanted to test the theory that there was no necessity to have what was referred to as Remove Year for Malay educated students. I was one of them. From day one 30 of us had listen and talk in English. Initially there were problems, partly because I was the quiet type. The experiment succeeded because after 4 months most of us were able to communicate fairly well in English. Ten of us managed to get an 'A' in English.
It may be a good idea for you to increase the time spent on reading English materials. I was lucky because my father loved reading. He used to buy comic books, cartoon, and war series. I read them even though I did not understand the meaning of the words. The pictures helped me to roughly understand what went on. In MJSC my English teacher praised my writings. But at that time I was not sure the meaning of words and phrases used but I knew they were used in certain situations and certain combination. If I were asked to explain to the class I would have failed to do so. I did not study much for my English tests and examination Instead I read novels and other English materials.
The above method may not work for you and it is only a suggestion.
May you succeed in your endevours.
