do you believe in saying that it is better to love than to be loved?

The nicest discussion I came across today. It makes you reflect that selfish love is so prevalent today. Pure love has to be given without expecting anything in return. It is better to love in a detached spiritual way. In this way, even if the reciprocation is not of that level, one will still not feel hurt or rejected.

I think only you love and you are be loved,then you can feel happiness.For me,I loved my boyfriend and I am loved by him equally.So we both are happy and we cherish each other with all our hearts in love.Love teach us many things,such as understanding each other better,considering the other's everything,doing things for him/her without thingking of geting something back as a reward,and so on.

Love is always a problem with me and I never approach any big problem by quoting something. It makes no sense to me at all. Cheers!!

as a person we will only feel that our being is complete if we have love and that love to others and be loved in return. as for me, its no big deal for me if i am not loved by the people around me, what matters to me is that i know i'll able to spread love because i know that its the purpose why am here, to share the love i have inside.

My first love was a terrible experience.I loved her at first,and now I even don't know she loved me or not,maybe loved me for a couple days only.After my bad first love,I choose to be loved.I don't dare love to any girl even I do like her.So I won't take the first move then.And now I feel good to be loved.....

i think it,s better to to love then to have not loved at all not to love then you never really know what it feels like not to feel loved.love is a feeling that hard to explain it a feeling that come over us how we feel about that person.love is to be culitivated and nourished so it can stay alive because believe it are not you can kill love thread sofely when dealing with love.

hi, dash65. yup, i believe in that saying. it is nice to love someone. i think it makes me a better person. i do not like the burden of having someone who loves me but i cannot love in return. i do not know why, i just know that it would make me uncomfortable. but i also have to say this: it is also important to love yourself. you can love a person even if he or she does not love you back, but please love yourself. do not get obsessed and do not lose your self-respect. welcome to mylot, dash65! have a nice day!

I believe in the saying to an extent. But sometimes I get to thinking that... if you have never loved, then do you even know what you are missing? Seems to me that people become broken hearted AFTER experiencing love and that's when they miss it. But I suppose I would still rather have loved and experienced that pain, and then hope that I'll find it again (or even better than what I had) someday.
