What do people's eyes say to you?

The eyes tell "all" about the person you are talking with and I agree if they can't make eye contact with you, they are not trustworthy. The eyes are the window to the soul as they say, and they reveal so much about a person. It's pretty wild really.

Do you mean you can actually sense what they are feeling or thinking about by their eyes? You know what they are thinking about sometimes? Or if you look at a picture of someone you know and love you can remember how that person made you feel inside just by looking at the picture, like you can actually feel them sitting next to you at the moment?

Sometimes, rarely, yes they do. But i wasn't talking about specific things. I was talking qualitatively...like this person is ambitious, this person is sentimental, this other person is philosophical, this other person is confused...and so on. And I am not talking about what the person is feeling at that moment, but more as a character trait. I am talking in circles I am sure, and not getting across what i am trying to say. so there...

Yes so true. The eyes are indeed a mirror to the heart. But what about eyes by themselves? Do they speak to you out of a picture for instance? Do people's eyes talk to you when they are actually not talking to you or even looking at you? I don't know, but they seem to do so to me. Thanks for responding though.

I think it is important to look someone in the eyes when
having a conversation. Sometimes it might be hard to do for
some people, because they can be nervous or dishonest. To look
someone in the eyes means you are interested in what they
are saying. It means a lot.

I agree with both of you. But it's more than body language and behaviour. Does it happen that even when someone is not talking to you, their eyes talk to you (they could be talking to someone else, completely unaware of your presence even). Do you relate to people through their eyes. That is what I was wondering about people. Thanks for responding though. And I agree with with what you said too. Thanks

That is what I meant by "The Eyes Are The Window To The Soul", that's just it, your eyes can say so much.

Cool. It's always nice to get another person's perspective on things.

You can find out alot about a person just from their eyes. The eyes are the one thing that won't lie - and when someone is lying, they are usually the greatest indicators of this.

Yes i agree that eyes don't lie...but many of us have lost the ability to discern the difference between truth and lies. So that obscures things a bit. Thanks for your comment.

Can they really? Or do we imagine things? How can one really be sure of what the eyes say? And if we could, wouldn't it be easy catching criminals? wouldn't crime be down to a minimum? Wouldn't people escape being cheated? I wonder sometimes.

Although the outer shell is moulded by the accumulation of our thoughts, the eyes tell the hopes and fears and reflect our worth. When I look into someone's eyes I look right to the core of them -- some like it, others react badly; it depends what they have to hide and from whom; others or themselves. Eyes are living pictures that tell so much more than just a mere thousand words; many stories voiced in complete silence.
For the most part I like to look into the worlds behind the eyes, I've only ever encountered a very, very few which made me shudder.

hello there and hAPPY dAY TO YA!I find the eyes the most amazing part of any human being,.I persoanlly can find out almost everything about a person by looking into there eyes,I believe absolutely without a doubt you can see a person soul threw they eyes, which is why i love the saying with all my heart..I can tell if a person is happy, nice, sad, in deep thought,,or even a bad person to stay away from..its hard for me to explain but..if a person finds it very hard to look in your eyes when you talk to them it concerns be that what there saying is false..or what they say and what they truley belive are 2 different things,,I once dated a man that told me he loved me..but i could tell in his eyes that he didnt mean it at all..he was humoring me,and my favorite thing about the eyes are when someone is very happy..and excited, or truly in love..The eyes sparkle like a star in the Sky..Or then theer are people that just have very natural sparkling eyes,,that usually means that they are very special and wonderful human being..and i try to befriend them..because they are usually the most wonderful friends you can have,.

A Happy Day to you to.
Yes, the eyes are a mirror to much more than a person's heart. They mirror the conscience, intent and a sincerity...or lack of it. However, eyes also do another thing...they talk. Of need, of anxiousness, of hunger, of yearning, of pain, anguish and a multitude of other feelings. And whether what you say about twinkling eyes is true or not, I know my gut screams out to me the first time I look a person in the eyes, and more often than otherwise, my gut has been proved right. Besides the fact that I have a real intelligent gut (he he), it also is a reflection on the lack of acting abilities of most eyes right?

That's a nice expression "small window to the big mansion". Quite like it actually.

I didn't quite understand that. Can you clarify? Were you referring to the double post of a comment before here or responding to the question?

Wow! I think this is the most fascinating discussion I have seen here so far. The eyes are the first thing I notice about a person. As some have already said, I believe they are the mirror to the soul. They are also great indicators of lying, but you have to know how to read them and there are other indicators as well.
When I met my current boyfriend I looked into his eyes and there I saw the person I was meant to be with. I still see that every time I look in his eyes and we have conversations across a room just with our eyes.
I was impressed that you seem to have a special gift, that you may not see that way. Personally I think that if you have it, it came from God and you shouldn't fear it, but use it for the good of others. I understand what you mean about people thinking you are strange if you talk about it, but so what? I also have a gift and no longer fear it. I don't get visions or anything like that, it's more like a feeling and many times I know what is going to happen next. I started writing down the feelings that I got and when the event happened I recognized that it was something psychic telling me so. I don't think you are strange or odd at all, I think most people just don't understand anything outside their usual realm of experience.

That is so true. We are so conditioned to seeing what is acceptable by the yardstick of what we see as the norm, that anything beyond that we get skeptical about. Whether it is a gift or a curse, time will tell. And for myself, I have been fighting the tension within for years now.
I think you are very lucky. It's special to be able to feel and communicate through the eyes with the person or people you love. I know of the instinct about things that are going to happen. Has happened to me too. And even when I speak of the eyes talking to me, that is what I mean. I just feel things. Big and small. Most insignificant, but some enough to scare me. So, to each his or her own. Gifts and curses alike. The thing would be to make the most of what you got, instead of wondering whether it was a gift or not...right?
