Everybidy knows that gambling can be addictive and can ruin people's life and worse it can affect the whole family to the extent that you are lsft with nothing.
I have few friends who would gamble twice every week and for me i think thats too much because they are spending too muck on that thing
Mostly it be looteries or casinos, i've also seen people gamble with their cars, i mean this is a type of gambling you find on the street but nevermind is also called "gambling". Most people would gamble in desperation for money or assets and not realising that they also loose more on it
What do you think gambling is heading for, especially with the young people who are in desperate for better life?

My husband used to gamble a lot of money on horse racing. He ran up great depts. I threatened to leave him when I found out and he has now stopped. It is an awful thing. people are believing they can win big amounts of money, when in truth they are spending more on trying to win big.
Yes I feel sorry for a lot of young people and also people caught in this situation. It is very hard to get away fom. It can be done though as my husband has proved.

I agree that it can be done, but for now it seems as if is still a problem for many people, i mean the rule say "its only a game" and still people have this believe that they can win big and maybe become rich, thats like 2 in 10 chances
For many people the time they decided to stop is when they are left with nothing
I hope your husband isn't hidding it away from you gambling without your knowledge

I've seen a certain man loose his car on a street gambling and it was like i'm watching a certain funny comedy because it just happened in a flash, he lost and the the one who won it all of a sudden demanded that they go to this man's house to collect the car's registration papers and went straight to the police to for a change of ownership
I mean in 1 hour he was the other guy already owned that car, and again besides that..the lotteries are one things that people are addicted to and the winning chances there are like 3 in 100.
You don't gamble in China?

I also think that spending too much on it could post some serious threats in one's life, because if you gamble away all your saving then to me you are nothing, cause you have nothing and the best you can do is start from scratch to save a little moe so that you can survive

I know some people who became addicted to gambling and it ruined their lives and family... but these people were not really that close to me... my mother and father used to go to the casino... and they would always win... there were times when they won't but when they win it would always be big...
My father was even able to pay all our debts because he won $5,000 in a bingo game... and that was such a blessing for us... and that started to make our lives better...

Sounds like your parents were very lucky when it comes to gambling, i just wish i had that kind of luck. You know everytime a go gambling, especially lottery because thats the type of gambling i do most of the time...i always fall in the lower categories where is like you win the same amount of money you used to purchase the ticket. Even if i win more..i never won won anything that big at which i would say "one day i won this kind of money and this is what i bought with that money".
Is like i have small luck, but i'm happy because i do not spend that much on gambling and i can realise what it can do and how it can affect me.

I think gambling is just as worse as any other vice. You lose your chances of getting good fellowship with your family, you win some money but most of the time you lose more, you lose your senses because all your thoughts would be on how you could regain the lost money and you lose your dignity because sometimes you would borrow and can't pay back. Oh gambling is indeed terrible. I know a very popular actress who have been addicted to casino. She was once a very popular actress but now nobody trust her anymore because she has unpaid debts to all people around her. Sometimes she could not even take a bath because she was staying all day and all night in the gambling place. She has practically lost her fame, her money, her friends, and worst her dignity.
I had an officemate who gambles a lot. He lost his job because my Boss discovered that he was using the money of the company in gambling. I don't know where he is now but I'm sure if he did not change yet, he is now in the most miserable state of his life.

Now thats sound like a serious problem gambling can cause, i mean is like you are spinning or dicing your life away, for the fact that he turned to company's money is the fact that he has lost everything he has and now turn to the business's cash
Thats a disease gambling can cause, cause to me is a disease, how can someone take loan just to gamble? or borrow money for gambling? Too bad

Well there is another form of gambling that others might just consider trying to get a better life. Like when a person takes a loan to buy a house they clearly can't afford. And even IF they do manage to pay it off by some miracle it isn't enough, they sell it and with what money they get they buy a bigger more expensive place... a never ending cycle of wanting more is gambling in a sense don't you think?

Now thats what i call "classic gambling" because you can loose much bigger things as compared to normal lottery, i mean what if you aren't able to pay the loan back and that company demand their money and only to find that you are unable to pay back, they may probably think of selling all your assets to recover their monies back, and in this case is like you just lost your life

Well, I don't know anyone whose life has been ruined by gambling, though I did know some people who like to gamble. One of my friends used to gamble quite a lot, but he only used his own money to gamble, but not borrowing money, so it's considered still fine. But now, he's changed since he got a girlfriend. ^_^

hello loxion,
Yes, I know someone who was ruined her life because of gambling. It's not just a small time but really big time. She was not playing casino before but since she was accompanying her friends that's why she was able to learned it. At first she was winning but most of the time she was losing. And it's not just hundreds but thousands of money. To the extent that she was borrowing money with high interest but has no luck of winning. She kept on borrowing money to the extent that it reached her millions already. Until now she's still paying for her debt and she wish this thing never happen to her. It's the worst thing that she've ever did.
Gambling has nothing good that will give to us. So as long as we can control ourselves in doing it, the better. It's the best choice that we must do to have a better life.

Too bad about that poor lady, i mean even now she still pays the money, is like a double loss, she lost on that gambling and now she is loosing money every month paying those people she owes
Addicted like that is a problem because you can endup with nothing, what if now they fire her where she works....amd those people she owes will be knocking on her door at end of the month in need of their money, and soon after they realise that she is unable to pay.... then they will be thinking of selling her assets in oder to recover their monies
I think thats bad

I have a friend whose stepfather gambles. Her mom keeps her money in an account he doesnt know about...doesn't have access to so that she has money to pay they bills etc. He cashed in all his rrsps recently and spent them all on gambling. Its at the point where her mom is talking about divorce and is very angry with him.
I dont think gambling is a good thing...i think its a waste of money and most spend more than they ever win. The occasional lottery ticket is ok but spending a fortune on the rest is just nuts.

Thats what addiction can do and so far addiction to certain things can cause a major loss, now in this situation this man is about to loose his wife and of which he lost lots of money on gambling, i mean thats too bad if someone can be addicted like that.
In most cases you find that peole have that believe that they can win and maybe live a better life after that, but only to find that they are losing big time.

Hello loxion
I have some family doing gambling, almost everyday.
She is a rich family and have a lot of money.
But they can stand to long with that.
Someday, she loose and start to loose again, until she have no money.
Now she and her family almost don't have anything.
Lucky her, still have a house and her husband is still working.
My friend like to gambling too, he have to runaway from his home and family because someone looking for him, he loan a lot of money from someone with higher rates.
His girl friend and family looking for him but can't find him.
Gambling can make your life like in hell, they just give temporary happiness.
God bless you

Yep, i think if you can be addicted upto that level thats where gambling becomes a problem, i mean how can you take a loan just to play lottery or gamble with the money aquired there?
Now this person you are talking about here has just lost everything, he has just lost the money on gambling, his family and worse people are looking for him to pay them their monies
I think this problem occur to people who think that they can live from rags to riches and in most cases people like this go from a well balanced life to rags/low life only because of gambling

It's hard to say. I have seen family members and friends alike get addicted to gambling and waste their savings and life away. There aren't many people I know my age that are into gambling like that, though. I have gone to a casino maybe a handful of times and I don't find it that stimulating or exciting. I have a $20 limit and usually walk out with profit, though nothing impressive. I guess I would just rather do something where I absolutely knew I was going to make money, and earn it. Of course I'd like to win the lottery or something, but thats $5 a ticket.

But do you think that there could be anyways to let people know that gambling is bad especially if you spend too much on it?, i mean obviously someone like me and you are atleast aware of the fact that gambling can be dangerious, but what about that poor guy out there who is somehow in a "dark"? how can we make the see that?
