Hey ! I am 22 and I am working since when I was 16 . I always felt that its good to do things of my own . Ma parents didn't asked me to work . I was seeking for freedom and that comes when u do work and earn of your own. What you think independence to look for or just wait till its come your way??

yeah i am independent working professional , but believe me i was much happy wen i was not working , i was free from all professional world. i was having many things to do and learn , but this thing never last forever , one who has come to this materialistic world has to follow the life cycle of the nature.

Well i didn't really start pulling my weight until my 3rd and 4th year of university. The first two i was in college and i couldnt find a job when i was searching. I registered for a tax course which cost me 75 dollars with books included and did earn during the tax season and i put my 1500 on fixing the family car so that i could stop getting stranded if i missed the bus lol
When i was at university i did work study and stayed late to work the max hours they allowed, with my good grades (scholarships, grants, financial aide), and what earnings i made i ended up only leaning on my parents for 2000 dollars for the 4 years of study! First two years were paid since i attended community college and really worked at keeping up my grades, and only bought used books, or borrowed books from friends that took the same classes... same in university.
So only during that time did i feel that i was truly independent. I started working recently at a school - teaching job - but had to leave since i was told if i kept up the pace and coming and going i have to deal with it if something happened to my pregnancy... i didnt want to shoulder blame if God forbid something happened so i quit. So it is only that time i felt independent and it felt great to pull my own weight.
A person gains a sense of self respect knowing that they helped their family by helping with their own expenses.
