Do you give your tips in cash or through credit card?food?item?

We have different guests that express their gratitude to us by giving us tips in various forms too. Some hand it in cash placed in the envelope and give it directly to the person they appreciate the most. Some include it in their bill and pay it through credit cards. Few give foods like one box of pizza, cakes, brownies and even candies. And little of them give staff some items like bags, shoes and wallets.
HOW ABOUT YOU IN WHAT WAY DO YOU GIVE YOUR TIPS?

When I'm out,I'll tip depending on how I'm paying,usually..cash when paying in cash,or card when paying with card! I work in the business myself-Unfortunately,My Employers have made the decision not to accept tips from credit cards any more...I'm not sure if this is a widespread practise..It's disappointing when someone wants to leave a tip when paying with a card,and we have to say "Sorry,but we Can't do that.." and then they have no cash...Cash is good,we share tips at the end of the shift so we get to have it there and then..I'm not sure if the issue is a result of the hassle of the wait to process the card transactions to get the tips back,or if there's a tax issue on the transaction the employer would rather avoid..

Yes, I have one guest that told me that they can't anymore include tips in their company credit cards because they're not allowed to reimbursed it in their account. Also some hotels doesn't give the tips to staff when charged by the guest on its credit card. They'll tell them that it takes too long and they have to wait for it though. ^^,

SO far the tips i give are in the form of cash, and nothing else ^_^ But when i'm in the service line, i did receive tips of different forms too, such as food, ice cream, presents, and even a red packet for my birthday.. lol =D BUt those gifts are given to me by those regular customers in the cafe ^_^ ANd i have been working there long enough for them to really know me, and thus i often get all these little little treats.. haha

When I do dine in restaurant, I see to it if it's indicated in the bill the service charge, I seldom give tips, but if it does not I do give tips.
