Some people love to carry work home and sit for many hours at home doing office work. Do you also carry yor office home? One way of looking at it is that if youwork at home youare not keeping opther people sitting and waiting in office while you work for example your secretary, your clerk and your peon etc. They have to wait. The converse is that if youwork at home you are neglecting your spouse and your children and are not able to give them time. How do yo manage?

I am a software developer and for me , i get restless if i don't find a solution to a problem. So i normally think over even i finish working in office. I tend to think over it and work on it even at home. But then it is just out of curiosity and love towards the work.

I'm a software developer, what I need is just a computer for me to work, so it's very easy to bring home and work. I used to bring home my work and continue writing the program at home, sometimes it's because the project is really rushing, sometimes it's just because I have the idea and I really feel like working.
Yeah, it's true, by doing this, I'll neglect my spouse and also my personal time has been taken up. So now, I try not to bring home my work, and also not to think about my programs anymore. I want to be relaxed at home, and enjoy my own personal time. Life is not just about working.

Hi there mercuryman3a!
I teach in college and though I finish most of my work in our faculty room, there are things that I still have to do when I get home. An example of this would be my lecture for the next day. There are also times when I would bring home papers to check and rate. This is so true especially during exams as we are required to submit our class records few days after the last day of periodical exams. I do not really bring much work at home as I know that I wouldn't accomplish all that anyway.

I never do any work at home, except house work. I would never want to work somewhere that I had to put in extra hours during my off time, might as well be back in school if I was doing that.

Hi Mercuryman, I don't have these worries of keeping people waiting for me if I work late in the office, as I have a set of the office keys. However, I found that taking work home, especially during weekends and vacation is really bad - like you say, family life is neglected. Moreover, I would be bringing work stress into the home, which is not good at all.
So I try to keep my working and personal lives apart, as far as possible.

It depends upon the urgency of the work. Sometimes I carry the work to home and also vice versa. i.e. Some personal work i do it from my office. So it tallies.

I don't bring office work at home. If it is not finish then I will finish it the next day. I have to be with my wife and kids at home so that I can have quality time for them. I also run an online business where me and my wife are running it together. So office work must be done only in the office.
