I usually shut down my cell phone when I sleep at night , because cell phone
radiation can harm my health . But , however , I have always worried whether or
not to shut down my phone at night , sometimes your friend or your boss who are
in urgent matter to inform you , but you have slept and shut down your phone ,
then you can't get the information , and you or your company may get some loss .
So , I think whether or not to shut down your phone when you sleep is a bothersome
question . How do you deal with this problem ? Share with us ?

I dont turn off my cellphone when I sleep at night. I might miss an emergency call. There's not a minute a turn my phone off. It just happens when I got empty battery.

Surely, health is only a problem when you are transmitting - in other words when you are talking to someone on the phone. That is also when you are holding the handset to your ear and so right next to your brain.
If you placed your mobile by your bed I don't think it would harm you. The biggest irritation would be if it took a call in the middle of the night and woke you up!

I don't turn off my cellphone at night so the office or my relatives can reach me anytime there's an emergency situation.

no, i don't shutdown my cellphone, it's bother me when i off my cellphone, due to the following disadvantages, what if there's an emergency call? what if your friend need your help or what if someone is calling you for a help. I don't want to be bother by my conscience especially. I'm aware that the radiation of the cellphone can harm our health, but look. Don't let the cellphone stay in your side, give allowance..put your cellphone in the divider or cabinet then make level five (5) as your setting so that you will surely hear the ringtone of your cellphone if there's someone sending you a message or giving a call.

I haven't tried to turn off my phone at night. Sometimes the phone shut off immediately (because sometimes it's almost low bat and I am tired to charge it at night). I think it's very important that your phone is ready in terms of emergency. I don't really mind if someone is calline me in the middle of the night.

I just put it in a silent mode. I just keep it in a drawer in my study so I don;t keep it in my bedroom. So there is no radiation problem about that. If my close relatives want to contact me on an emergency issue they know my landline number. © ronaldinu 2008

Hi there! I don't switch off my mobile phone at night time or when I'm going to sleep. I'm not in my home country at the moment so its important for me to leave my phone on 24/7. And I use my mobile phone also as my alarm clock.
I think its up to you whether you like to keep your phone on or off, but the good thing having your phone on is when its emergency call and they can easily reach you! I guess if its wasn't important they won't call you anyway. But sometimes the problem of having our phone on when we're sleeping is getting a wrong number call, specially when can't go back to sleep easily. Thanks!

For what it's worth, I never shut off my phone. Also, I have never really considered the option of turning it off.
Aside for using its alarm feature (LOL), I keep it on because of - as you've mentioned - for emergencies or just for being there to answer a mundane call from a friend which just happens to be in the middle of the night, etc.
I place my phone on my bedside table, by the way, so it's not close to my head while I'm sleeping. I think you could do that if you don't want to turn it off so as to limit your risks for cellphone radiation. :)

Well, my cell phone is always open, which has beome one my customs since my college time. Why? You know, there really have an key factor which is related to my family. My cell phone is out of charge, but for my sad mood, I did not charge it, when I get it to charge, then open it, wow, so many missing calls and messages, I cannot believe that how worried they care for me! So regratful, so I quickly called them and told the reasons and my good state.
That's why I never shut down it. Just for my family.

i don't switch off my mobile phone most of the time. the only time is probably when i'm on a flight. i do worry about the radiation from the mobile phone. what i do is leave the mobile phone some distance away from me when i sleep. this way, i will still be notified if someone rings me in the middle of the night. i use my mobile phone as my alarm clock too. it's loud enough to wake me and yet won't take up extra space. cheers

I agree with you, it's really hard to make a decision.
I always shut my cellphone but i never missed a call after i shut my cellphone.
Anyway i think people won't call you late in the evening unless they have something urgent.
Here is my solution:
I do some changes in the settings so that after i shut my cellphone down, my calls will be forwarded to the telephone of my room.
By doing that i avoid being affected by the radiation and at the same time i will never miss a call.
I think you can try this, and i sincerely hope that this can be of help.
Have a nice day and enjoy mylotting!

well for me personally, i don't shut down my cell. For a number of different reasons. For examples, I have a sick sister she has to be placed at the hospital at times, she has problems breathing. I would not feel good about myself knowing that she has taken sick, family tried to contact me and my cell was off so they couldn't have gotten through to me. I don't want to miss any emergency calls. Another reason is the type of job I do. Sometimes my boss may call me at night to update me on important information that i may need to get started on first thing the next morning. I would not like to miss any of his calls, because there was this one time i missed his calls and he left a angry message on my voice mail. so believe you me i don't want to be missing any of his call for a while. but for me I don't really have a problem leaving on my cell, because i don't want to miss any important calls. So i choose not to shut my cell down.

That depends on what your options are. If you are an important part of your work and you prefer to be bothered by work matters you may opt to have your phone turned on while you sleep. There are also advantages if you want to be reachable by your family or relatives if something turns up like an emergency. I leave my phone open for any emergency just in case. My work never calls me while I'm off. Cheers!

i turn off my cellphone long time ago.and now i always keep it on,because the battery can last for nearly a week, there's no need to save its energy.and i don't believe the radiation can hurt my body, because i put it rather far from me at night.what's more,i turn the volume at full at top.
