It is November 11th and in Canada it is the day we pay tribute to all of those that have died in wars! Whether they be the current wars or past wars.
I hope I will not have this discussion deleted because I would also like to put here the poem written by A Canadian military Doctor Major John McCrea who fought in the First World War. He wrote this poem after his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer died at the Second Battle of Ypresin May of 1915. We here in Canada where Poppies on our lapels to represent the armed forces that have died serving our country.
The poem:
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short Days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Did you know it is a sign of disrespect to where the Poppy after November 11th? I had a veteran tell me that once. So each year I buy a new one and then take it off on Remembrance Day November 11th.

I lost my grandfather in WWII. It is amazing really that I did not lose more family this way because I had many that fought in WWII and many that had to live in the midst of it my father included.
