If you were to enter a room with other people inside, who should speak first - the person who just entered the room or the person who is already inside. To me it just depends on the environment for example; if your enter an office with a receptionist, the receptionist will greet you with a "hello, how may I help you", if you walk into a house with other family members you would be the one to speak first or should be the one to speak. Which is correct or Is there a correct way?

I think it depends on the environment, as you said. I was thinking about this myself the other day because I would go into a chat room, for instance, and no one would greet me. And I started thinking, should I have to greet them, or should they have to greet me? They are already in the room, so they should greet me. I greet people who come into a room, both online and in real life. I think that, unless you are entering the room with a receptionist or someone of a similar position, it should be the person within the room that greets the person entering the room.

I think that you should be the first to speak when it comes to being social, like at your house, a family members, or even a friend's house. Now when you are out I think that the employee should greet first as that often makes people feel welcome there, now if you live in a small town like I, It's not necessary for the employee to speak first, well I suppose it also depends on where you are at at the time.
