I used to join programs and use them for a while to see if it was easy to reach payout. If it was and I got paid, then I would stay. If not, I would quit. This methofd took way to much of my time so now I do my research first. I go to forums to see what real people are saying about the programs. It doesn't take long to spot a scam or to see if members arer paid. It also saves me tons of online time.

the very first thing you should do is to visit the forum of the site. It is for you to judge how the members communicate to the site admin . If you view lot of bad comments, complains, curse, ...do you think you will sign up? Definitely no. If the site has no any contact info, no chatboards, no forums, no blogs, ...think twice.
