Would you give up everything materialistic and live in the woods?

I recently heard about a few people who decided to change the world in a way I'd never though about. There's a camp that allows you/"teaches you" to live off the land in a secluded area. You only take the clothes on your back. You do not use a cell phone, electricity, or running water. Apparently after doing this for a year, you are considered enlightened. I can see how people doing this has a positive impact on the earth since you aren't using electricity or running water and aren't have a negative impact whatsoever on the environment. What do you think? Would you consider giving up a year of your life to do this?

well, maybe not the woods, but definitely the beach. i would want to have electricity though that i could just write and live on the beach, but i believe i would live a pretty simple life there.
i have though, watched shows about people that go and work the land for a whole year and go back the what life would be like in the 1800's and i am not sure if i could do that.
