What is the difference between Obama saying that there are 57 US states, Obama saying that he sought out Marxist professors as mentors in college and Gov. Palin not knowing that Africa is a continent?
The answer? The ones about Obama are true.
The creator of the hoax has come out and admitted that he made up the story about Palin and the continent of Africa.
Did you fall for it? Don't feel too bad, the incompetent press did too. Just another example of the losers in the press running with a story without checking the sources. They aren't reporters, they are overpaid rumor mongers.

ENOUGH! Everybody on here cherrypicks what suits them to discredit the other side. It's as bad as the girl who carved the B into her own cheek. Take a break. It's time to see the forrest not just the trees.
The reason we are in the current financial mess is the repeal of the Glass Steagall act. It was a completely bipartisan effort urged on by 300 million worth of lobbying for the bankers. But nobody cares because it can't be blamed on the Dems or the Repubs. So, the Democrats blame George Bush's administration and the Republicans blame Acorn Housing. NOBODY talks about getting some of the provisions of the Glass Steagall act back before it's too late. Can't see the forrest for the tress.
Same thing here. Obama said this, Palin said that. Bush said this. Biden said that. On and on it goes. ENOUGH! WHO CARES! They are fallible human beings. They make mistakes and they have to endure hoaxes. They put themselves out there and that gives us the right to make fun of the ones we don't like. But in the end this nitpicking accomplishes nothing.
Answer to your question. NO, I did not fall for the hoax. I didn't even know about it.

But ACORN is a criminal organization and Obama is a Marxist. Are you really trying to silence the truth just because you are tired of hearing the rumors?

Maybe you should tell the bias left wing media to see the forest and not just the trees.

I actually responded to a discussion about this saying I found it hard to believe. I know that Republicans never make gaffes so we won't even talk about 57.

Oh, Republicans make some blaring gaffes, some are just entertaining while others are scarey. I just find it interesting that people consider a rumor about Palin a reason she isn't qualified, but get mad if we point out Obama's.

That had nothing to do with my opinion of if Palin was qualified.

Ted, you know as well as I do that the die hard liberals and the anti-Palin crowd will NEVER stop believing this tripe. No amount of admissions, proof, or even a video tape of the actual conversations behind closed doors will convince people. To this day there are still liberals stupid and hateful enough to believe that Trig was Bristol's son.
My star went down a little today. I expect it to plummet now that I've referred to gullible liberals as stupid.

I heard some mid-east country (Iran? Iraq?) has 57 states or some sort of divisions. Maybe those were the states he had in mind?
Just a thought. LOL!

hahaha,,, I agree with you, people are just making up stories against Gov. Palin to ruin her credibility and for sure those were the democrats who want Palin to be out of the picture. They are just intimidated with her and want to get rid of her without thinking that the more they will put her down, the more she will shine?

It is pretty obvious that most people are still intimidated by Palin I agree as they should be.You would think with all that great education that Obama has he would know how many states were in a country he wanted to be president of wouldn't you lol

No way. I am not that stupid. I knew it was from some people who hated Palin. i figured that Obama or one of his staff or the media had planted a couple of his minions in the Republican camp just to make sure their demigod does not lose.
Oh the creator came out, after the election was over. Oh by the way, the media wanted to believe that fallacy.

As another poster already pointed out, it hasn't been established that she really didn't not know these things. (Did I say that right?) Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, that in itself isn't that big a deal since so many other things she clearly said that showed her to not be very intellectually curious. I'm not calling her stupid or dumb but I get the impression she doesn't bother learning anymore than she has to at times.
I fully realize everyone makes mistakes, misspeaks, has their moments when they draw a blank, etc. and when someone is in the public spotlight for months on end like all of the candidates were there are bound to be a few "doozies". I think everyone knows Obama knows how many states there are, that incident was explained quite well as soon as it happened just as I think we all know Joe Biden can count and simply made a human mistake when he said "Three letters - J-O-B-S".
What I took from the campaign from the time Palin was introduced what that her supporters considered her to be off-limits from any criticism about anything. There was feigned outraged over perceived attacks on her family that weren't really attacks on her family. I'm not referring to the internet rumors about her youngest son, those things were totally rotten and so were the people who started them but I didn't see any of that on the MSM. Also anyone who made nasty comments about how she couldn't do the job because she has five kids, including some people here on myLot who said that, were out of line in my opinion. But to report on her record as Governor of Alaska or Mayor of Wasilla or on things she actually said and did in interviews, in the debate and on the campaign trail was totally fair.

No, I didn't fall for that. The "57 states" thing was available for anyone to see on YouTube. He said it.
But the things being said about Palin are from an anonymous source, supposedly from the aides who helped her get ready for the debates and interviews. Personally, I didn't think that any of those people would be so unprofessional as to mention anything that happened behind closed doors...even if there were some mess ups.
Turns out I was right.
I think the news media needs to be spanked for believing "anonymous sources" and for paying way too much attention to bloggers instead of real news items.

It would take professionalism, integrity and honesty for journalists to check sources. 3 things few journalists have ever even heard of.

The press use to be honorable and reported facts with the editorial page being for opinions. That's no longer the case and I don't know why anyone believes what they say, particularly when it comes to politics.

Actually, the Eisenstadt hoax was him claiming to be the anonymous source. The story of Palin's gaffe - and I do believe it was either a gaffe or something deliberately taken out of context - came from the Newsweek election issue, and the quote was from an unnamed staffer talking to the reporters who were with the campaign from the start. Now if you want to get all up in arms over the misrepresentation, I'll stand right beside you. I'm pretty sure that I posted at the time that my guess was that someone had taken out of context Palin asking something like "When you say South Africa, are you talking about the country or just the southern region of Africa?" Yes, MSNBC did report that the "anonymous staffer" had come forward - that was the hoax they meant.

This doesn't surprise me at all. The liberal media will report anything even remotely negative about a Republican or conservative candidate- anyone who opposes their views and ideals. I didn't believe it when I read it- that lady is far too smart to make an error like that. Obama on the other hand......

It amazes me how you can make such outrageous insinuations like Obama not being smart or that he and his wife are un or anti-American (maybe you personally did not say the latter, but your speculation about Obama's intelligence goes in line with the assertion of others in reference to his patriotism). Just because you disagree with someone's politics does not mean that that person is unintelligent. The truth is, I think that both Obama and McCain are very intelligent and I think that it's ridiculous for anybody to say or infer that they are not or that either of them hate America. The beauty of the United States is that even though 2 different people may have completely opposing views about what this country means to them and about what direction this country should go in, those same 2 people can still love their country and can be completely patriotic. This is not true in many other countries and we are lucky to live in a place that allows us our own personal viewpoints and convictions. in my opinion, if someone were to say that there is only one way to love the USA, they are really saying that they don't believe in what this country stands for - freedom. Just because someone may disagree with your views about the United States does not mean that they are anti-American.
The truth is, although Palin may be smart, what does it say about a person who makes a mistake, but then doesn't bother to amend that mistake and goes on to make the same mistake more than once? Especially if that person could potentially become a major world leader? I am, of course, referring to her lack of knowledge about the role of the Vice-President of the United States. That mistake does not make her unintelligent, but the fact that she didn't take the time to learn the proper answer says something about her as a person.

It's also interesting that in your short post you say that, "The liberal media will report anything even remotely negative about a Republican or conservative candidate - anyone who opposes their views and ideals", yet just 2 sentences later, you do the exact same thing that you seemed to be saying you disagreed with.

Some people are just using the issues to ruin Palin's credibility. I hope they will be responsible press people, that they will confirm first before they sensationalize the issues.

I didn't think it could be... at the most I thought maybe there was a time she slipped and said the country of Africa when she meant to say the continent... because I've done that myself. It wouldn't mean I didn't know the answer or that I was stupid...but the whole un-named source thing and all, and the silliness of the whole thing just got to me. Obviously Sarah Palin is seen as a threat even after the election for them to continue to dig at her. Really leave the woman alone. They will get their chance to make up more nonsense on the woman when we see her run in 2012.

No, I did not fall for it. I was too busy trying to figure out why all these people were supporting Obama, a man who belonged to a church that preached hatred against whites. Today I saw an add indicating that there were three Indian girls living in an apartment and they were looking for one more....she must be Indian. Now, if that has been white...they would have been racists. People can say anything they want about Sarah Palin but Obama, no. People come to his defense call us racist just for pointing out the kind of person he is.

The further away we get from the election the more I believe the Governor Palin was set up by the GOP. I think they knew there was no way they were going to win so they needed a scapegoat. I truly believe that this was a way of putting woman in their place. I hope she runs in 12.
