Letting your childlike self out to play.

As most of us know life in the twenty-first century can be very hectic. It often seems that there are not enough hours in the day to get things done. Responsibilities weigh heavy on many people and some find it almost impossible to relax. A good exercise that may sometimes help is to try seeing the world through the eyes of a child again. Most of us can remember a time when life was much simpler, at least for us, a time when everything seemed bigger and even the simplest things brought us pleasure. Try picturing what your life today might be like if you saw it through the eyes of a child. Let your imagination run loose and spend a few moments as a child again. Let go all restrictions and imagine all the silly things you might do. If you catch yourself smiling or you laugh aloud that's good, you're a child again-remember.

I spend a lot of time being a kid again, but I think I can thank my kids for that. They are the perfect excuse to color or play legos or watch cartoons :)

A good friend of mine and I were out one night this summer and when we left the bar at 3 am it was really raining. It had been super hot and humid all day and the cool rain felt so good that we decided to walk home instead of take a cab. After about a block we were both soaked and one of us splashed the other with a puddle. We jumped in puddles and splashed around like little kids the whole way home. By the time we arrived we were both a sopping mess but we had so much fun. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard!

I do still find to set my childlike personality to comes out everytime I find a chance. I do play a bit. I joke often. And I really wanted seeing people even just to smile. Or play clean and simple tricks with me. It gives a good feeling to know that the youthfulness is still within us.

Hi Pose sounds very inviting, but I am not going to accept it........my goodness children today are much too clever ,too inquisitive and too demanding..... I had such a happy and meaningful childhood, playing around in the garden, climbing trees, making mud huts, drinking water from the tap and enjoying life and nature..Today's child is petted and pampered so much,is not aloud to walk in the mud or to drink water from the tap, they only play video games or computer games, and their general knowledge is amazing......My goodness Pose if we try to become children again ,we will truly become misfits..the world has changed so much and so has the very concept of what childhood is.....

Hi Rose, Thank you for your comments, but I wasn't thinking that we should really become a child, but to adopt perhaps the carefree ways of a child, just long enough to forget about the cares and problems that so many face in today's world. My childhood was something like yours only we actually had to bring water in buckets from a well. We had no indoor plumbing but life was so carefree then and summer days were never long enough. Blessings.

Hello Pose...I understood what you menat....all I was trying to say was that today's children are much too precocious and knowledgable, that we will really become misfits if we try to think like them........They will immediatley brand us dumb....he..he...

Yes, I let my inner child like spirit come out everyday. I think it's important and it comes naturally to me. I usually laugh out aloud, or tell jokes or perform some other child like act (within limits of course). I am known as the outgoing joker at my workplace, in a good way! I think it helps me relax and it definitely brings a smile to my face and the people around me.

Hi Cloud, Thanks for responding, you are the perfect example of what I meant. I love to lie on the floor and play with small children, they love it and so do I, it doesn't matter what others think. Blessings.

i think you are right. life can get too crazy and hectic and it is good to forget about it for a few moments by doing something that you used to do when you were a child. that is where young kids come in handy because you can play games with them without looking foolish! lol i play lego with my 11 year old all the time!

Hi cher, Thank you for responding. That's great that play with your child, I did it with my children and now with my grandchildren. In fact when we visit friends and there are small children present, I usually get on the floor and play with them. It makes me feel good so I don't care if I look foolish. People who know me expect that now and children love to see me coming.Blessings.

I believe the Bible says that, unless we become as little children we will not enter the kingdom of heaven. But there is also a time and place for everything. I love to entertain my inner child, hehe.

You won't believe this ,but almost everyone who knows me tells me that I'm very much like a child ,and this is why I'm always smiling. I try to live a simple life surrounded always by family and friends.

I agree. It is important to take time out to relax. Personally, I enjoy reading a good book, watching a good comedy, or spending time relaxing with family and friends. It's a good way to relieve stress and a healthier way of life.

Thank you for this post. I must say I taught headstart before my son was born recently, and I kept authority, but I also loved to play with the children. I would come up with lots of fun activities and they taught me more about life than I could have myself. Also since my son was born I've learned that you truly do live through your children. My husband and I are both young at heart and it makes life interesting, and fun. We don't have much money but we are truly happy.
