I used to write short stories for our local magazines and I at least earned something although not much. I also wrote short novels in our own language which were published as pocket books.
Now I stopped writing for magazines and short novels because it takes to much of my time and it pays so little. I am now concentrated writing online. Although I have earned only a few dollars since i started writing online.

The only money I have earned from my writing is what I get paid from my 2 blogs. Not much but it is a start. would love some tips on how to make more.

Well, I did have a writing job a while back, but it required me to write 500 words minimum on very odd, specific topics, like tablecloths or bingo daubers. It was a lot of effort and took up a lot of my time, and I simply didn't think it was worth it. I don't need to make much more than my Mylot earnings to keep me happy, and I feared that I would grow up to be a workaholic if I continued to force myself to do something incredibly boring and tedious when I don't really need the money.

Writing 500 words for one topic is really a hard job. I couldn't imagine myself writing this long about a tablecloth. But good writers do make writing something exciting by using words in a way that readers will love it even by talking about a thing that one hasn't expected to be interesting.

Nah, i've never wrote for anything or anyone. Neither has many people seen my work.
Most of my work remains unfinished (I'm not very good at sticking at it) though i can write long long pages of interesting things :P
Most of it is personal- that i dont mind sharing with others, but i choose not to because not many are interested. However those who are interested in my work - have said its brilliant...
Mind if i ask what you used to write about for your local magazines?

Short fiction stories. I think it is easier to think of a story that is invented in the mind rather than writing long articles. I do write articles now online. In fact I haven't written short stories for a long time.

I have only written for online places. I have earned a couple of hundred dollars writing online so far. I write for Associated Content, Review Stream, Ciao and Mylot right now. I love writing online. I just started with Squidoo but I don't have that site all figured out yet. I only have one lens so far.

Yes, I earned money through writing. I am not a writer but I am glad I still earned.
There are sites online where you can join, you don't need to be a writer in order to join and earned. I am writing for several sites not everyday but at least I have articles submitted every month. I am earning there aside from mylot. I am still kooking for other writing sites where I can join and add few bucks from my present earnings.

I have submitted about 10 articles already but have not received any payment yet. They say it depends on what site you submit them. The problem is what site really pays well for articles right? Wish we hit it. I love writing too.

Yes, I do some writing in my spare time, which is not much. I found Associate Content to be a great site. I also started back on Helium, but I have found Associate Content to be the best. Happy mylotting.

Associated Content is where I just signed up a few days ago. I heard of Helium but haven't looked into them yet. You like Associated though? Do you make decent earnings from them. This is the first time I've actually taking the initiative to get published. I figured I'd start small with articles here and there and work myself up to my dream of writing novels. Well I hope Associated content continues to do good for you. I hope I get something good from it also.

I write articles for internet content and it is alot of fun and I make a little bit of money but nothing to quit your day time job over. I have five published articles and they pay a little each month, I suppose I could and should write more because the more published articles the more revenue. There are many ways to make a little writing here and there but as far as making a career of it I do not have a clue. I do know you can write product reviews as well and make some extra income.
I would also think that writing blog content and getting subscribers would be an avenue for marketing other products. If you would like further information on sites and sources I use to generate some extra contact me and I will hook you up.

So far I haven't earned a single red cent for writing. lol. I am really trying though. My passion was sort of put on the back burner for a few years. But now that all issues from the past have been dealt with I'm ready to turn up the heat on the front burners. I've been writing like a fiend and looking for an agent to help me get published. Until then I'm using sites like this to get me started. I'm very excited about joining this site and some others. It will be nice to see "published by" with my name next to it and then dollars in the bank will be even better. I only just started a few days ago but should be bringing in money soon.
I'm just doing little articles online right now but my passion is novels. Even if I don't get published though, it won't stop me from writing.;)

Hello,
No I have never made any actual money for my writing, but I would sure love to one day. I have certainly thought about becoming and author before but with our upcoming generation it seems like it could be an unstable career. Sure there will still be people who love to read, but with the rise of videos games and the addiction this new generation has to them, I think they are surely going to put a stab into the book industry.
As unfortunate as it is to hear that, I think I will try and fight this by taking to blogs and writing for people who want to review my work online.

i've written short stories a few times before, they're usually about teenagers and their love lives, its more like a dialogue type of story. I'm definitely planning to start making money from em because everyone who read them always enjoy what they're about.

Hmmm... I just finished writing a novel. Well, it's been 2 months ago, I've send it to publisher, but there's still no respond. They say it still on process. They say that they need at least 3 months to process it. So, I think you're right. Writing stories pays so little. But can you write a novel on line? I mean, the reason I write novel is because I just love to share stories, a very very long stories. It's about passion rather than about earning money I think. But ofcourse... it doesn't pays enough...
Well another thing about writings and get paid... I thinks there's some websites that will pay your for writing. Not like this one. It's like paying for what you blog. I forgot the link. I anyone know, please do tell me. I'm thinking to write my novel on blog if the publisher still keeps me waiting.

I have earned money from my writings at different places. I write reviews and articles. Earning money is the inspiration for me to write more everyday. I love to write and I like to spend several hours writing. Time is a constraint for me and I think I have earned over a 1000$ this year.

Hi Mas,
I'm also writing online. So far, I have been paid very little. I write for Triond and I get about $15-$20 from my articles. It takes a long time to write many articles to get a decent amount from there but it's residual income. I'm also doing freelance writing which pays me more than my online earnings at this point. I think you should continue to write for the magazines and the short novels. You will continue to earn residual income for the novels right? So which website do your write for? I also write for AC and Helium, but not many articles there.

Not yet. I'm just starting. I used to write a lot but I don't want anyone to read them because I don't want my feelings to be exposed, and I'm not good in hiding my stuff so I stopped. Here I can write all I want anonymously and hopefully get paid for it. ;)

Before, i am earning honorarium from in every issued of our school publication. After that, i been a member of a community site which lunched a love story writing contest. I won the 2nd place and they sent me $30. I was so happy and gave my loyalty with that site. Later i been writing for writers.ph, Ciao and now on mylot. Virtually they are telling me that i had earned $ but i haven't received anything from them yet. I haven't tried to request for payment on my ciao account and i am still waiting for writers to release my payments of earnings.
