I am using dell inspiron 1420 and lately and running windows vista, my web cam doesn't seem to work. I get an error message every time I open the web cam console. It kept saying "application crash". I want to know if there is any way to overcome this problem. I do not have any other software that can access the webcam. The hardware will only show up when I am running the web cam through the built in webcam console.
I tried a searching a solution in the internet and I found that there are other people who have the same problem and they couldn't solve it either.
Is there any way can use my webcam without using the internal console or connect to the internet?

When you plug in the Cam, are you allowing windows to install this?
Are you using win XP?
What is the cam model. that is more important than the computer model

I am using windows vista 32 bit home edition. It is the built in web cam that I am having trouble with.
