Hello, well you can't save energy if you are using the computer ;) you can save if you are using not, shutting down the screen (not with the savescreen that leave the monitor on, but just setting on the option to shutdown the screen, they are in the same place where you set the screensaver, under the tab ENERGY), and shutting down the disk too. You can set for both after how many minutes the system should shut down them. You can also set a timer for the standby. But the question is... if you leave on your computer with the screen and the disks off, or in standbay.... why don't save much more shutting the computer off? ;) happy myLotting

I had done this before but i found there is some win32 problem with the option on. So now i turn off and just turn off the monitor manually.

Using LCD monitors instead of CRT will save power a sort of. And I always using the power saving option that switch off the monitor after 2 min. So it will automatically turned off after 2 min. I didnt feel any problem till now.

Your monitor screen consumes the maximum energy . SO switching of your monitor screen when not required is the best option when you do not require it and it saves a lot of electricity

I am using a laptop so I will turn off my laptop as soon as the battery is full. Then I will run using on the battery until the battery goes low. I will do this alternately so that I can save on electricity. I find that this method saves half of my electricity bills if compared to using a desktop. Another thing which I had done is to go to public places to do your job. For example go to the public library where you can bring in your own laptop and plug in from there. You don't have to pay them if you want to use their electricity. I have done this before but I prefer to do it from home because it is tiring to travel to the library and carrying your laptop everyday.
