How Often Do You Post A New Discussion?

Ok, so this is what it's all about right? Discussions; we read 'em, we answer 'em, we even ignore 'em. But what I wanna know is how often do you start one and more importantly how do you start one.
Does is take you a while to start one. Do you wait until you get this sudden epiphany of what to talk about? Or, something happens, like your child falls off the bed for the second time and need to ask advice about it in hopes to get some validation that your not a bad mother!... am I projecting?
Or is it less methodical and more mechanical. You start one every time you visit Mylot in hopes to rack up those pennies! Pushing any subject that pops into your brain onto pad (well, computer) in hopes that it will be your next hit!
As for me, it's more methodical. I'd say it takes me a few days to start a new discussion. I tend to wait til I can think of a what to talk about. I try to put thought into most of my discussions to really get a sense of what people are doing or thinking out there in MyLot world. Not to say that I don't do those off the wall discussions, like my fav: "Which toe is longer your big toe or second toe?"
Anyways, however it is you start your discussions I want to know, "how often do you start a discussion?"

I do not start a discussion daily as most of the time I do not have any thing to start one with. However, I would try to start at least one a week and that is consider a good achievement for me already.
Every time while responding to some discussions, i would be thinking about starting a new discussion and sometimes due to that, I forgot about what I wanted to respond in the first place. I am doing it again now as I am writing this response to your discussion.
The reason for my lack of ideas are mostly due to the fact that I really have not got the time to go around searching for things to write. I am referring to searching as both in the real world such as newspaper, magazines, the internet, etc as well as searching in my own head for things that I want to share or questions that I want to ask.
So, while thinking of something to start, I spend a lot of time responding to discussions started by others and yes, I am enjoying myself while I am at it.
Cheers!

Wow, I find myself doing the same thing. I'll start to comment on a discussion and work myself into s tangent. Do you ever find yourself writing a discussion and find while writing it it evolves into a different topic. This is what happened with this discussion. hehehe but I wrestled my thought and actually encompassed all my new ideas into one.
On a side note how long did it take you to get to 440?

some i may post 10 at a time and then again i post at least 3 a day it depend how my mind is working that day i start quite a bit during the week i try to keep active in my work. i post then go do something else like answer question and come back later to the question i posted.well you need to do research before posting to make sure no one else have posted that question you are trying to post are they will delete it if you don,t. you also have to respond to the person that write you this is how you make your money build.i posted 3 the other day it did well and i just stay with the discussion i made more then i ever made doing that.

First thanks for your quick response, it's very encouraging!
Second 10 a day. Wow, your an inspiration. I don't think I have 10 total post, I just started. But that's cool. Do you usually get a lot of responses? and How many of your discussions flopped? Quite a few of mine have kinna just flopped, which sucks because those are the ones that I actually want feedback on. It's usually the post about a specific product that post that doesn't get a single response.
How many hrs a day to spend on Mylot? Do you make a living out of it? or is it just for fun and some extra spending cash?

Hi Annjilena,
I agree with you, it will depend on how our mind is working, there are days where it seems it easy to think, especially if you are inspired, if you are happy or very mad. I think when I was starting here, I made 2 post a day and replied to every discussions that caught my interest and after a few weeks, my brain seems to drained and can't no more think of anything to discuss.

I am not very good with starting discussions.. And always has some blockage to new things... Furthermore, i am in the process of adjusting my working schedule so that i have more time to come online..
maybe in the near future i have more discussions to start...
I tend to comment more than start a discussions... LOL, like what i am doing now..
so how are you doing with the discussions? any tips to share?
now it's my turn to read the comment..

Well I kinna gave myself a goal to think of at least one new idea to come to Mylot with. I'm a stay at home mom with a ton of thinking time on my hands. I guess because I really don't have anything else like a job that takes up a lot of my thought process...not to say that parenting doesn't need thought process it's just more of a routine than anything else. Plus my other half is in the military and we barely get any time together...so MyLot is where my brain gets to unleash. It's not hard to start a discussion per se, but what I've found is that it's harder to start a discussion that gets a lot of responses. I do believe this is my first that's made it above 6... lol
thanx for answering my discussion

hello Kaui,
I think it is up to a person's personality. Some would like to share everything that happens in their life, that is why, they are able to open a lot of discussions/topics everyday.
As for me, I often try to post a discussion every after a while. I have lots on my mind I want to speak of, but there are times, I don't know how to say it, how to visualize it that others can understand, can relate. I do start a discussion when I have something to share, to ask about something, or if I need help. Mainly, my discussions are through my observations and daily life happenings. Well, I tried to plan on what to say before posting what I have in mind.

Well, when I was starting up, I wrote 2 to 3 discussions a day, but after a few weeks, only one topic a week. and then off from mylotting for a few monts. and back again, but not the same as before, because after my come back, I only post discussion every after a while, when I am able to write something in my notebook which is solely for my mylot discussions to start. I think writing it to apiece of notebook made me able to submit a few discussion. When I am facing the monitor, it seems I forgot all those topics I have in mind. I get tired looking for the exact category where it will fit. Also unlike before, I limit my time here in mylot.

I know what you mean it is hard to limit your time and even harder to find the right interest. I wish they were alphabetical, or at least an option that put them in alphabetical. I'm thinking the interests are categorized as most popular. I found my self in the very beginning selecting a ton of interests but I think I'll go back and delete a lot of them and keep the ones I really use, then add as I go along.

Hi Honeylore23, thanx for your response. I have that same problem. I sometimes find it hard to articulate myself well. It's like this rushing water that needs to go through a damn. All my thoughts are jumbled in my head and they're trying to fit into words. I've actually found that Mylot has helped me to extend my vocab, increase my typing and probably express myself better.
So would you say you start 3-5 discussions a day? or more or less often?

Hi there!
There is no regularity in my way of starting a discussion, sometimes I start and there are days I don't. Though most of the time I can make around 1-3 discussions a day.
I don't start a lot of discussions everyday. And it doesn't get higher than three if ever. I don't also force myself to start a discussion. It actually depends on my mood. I also don't use drafts. I just write as I think and hit submit if I can see that I have written it well.
There is also no specific time of starting a discussion for me. If something comes up in the middle of my mylot work, I just write it.
Ciao!

i like your philosophy, I try not to force a discussion out, although if I don't have a discussion i kinna default to asking Mylotters about a new gadget or item I recently bought or would like to buy, in hopes to get some feedback. These are actually the discussions I'd appreciate the most responses on but it seems no one really have responses about the swiffer starter kit or the voyager phone.
thanx for your post

It really just depends on how quick I can think of one I dont write anything down I just type up things that Iv always wondered about and wanted to know the answers to, and sometimes I find interesting topics from the TV news or just from everyday things I experience in life, but I must admit that sometimes I find it a little bit difficult to think of different and interesting subject to post but I try to post at least 1 or 2 topics a day if I happen to think of a interesting one.

That sounds like a lot of MyLotters out there. I, like you, find that just typing things out helps the flow of creative writing going. If I haven't thought of a discussion to start before I reach the computer I'll usually just start answering discussions before I start one.
Thanx for your response!

When I was new here I thought it important to start a discussion. Much later I realized that there were a lot of discussions I could join and I do that as a matter of course. Cheers!!

I rarely start a new discussion here on mylot. I'm more of a discussion respondent than a discussion starter. it takes me a few days to start a new discussion and I don't post a lot of discussion about myself or what happened to me that day. I may post some incident in my life but they are so important that needs attention like the time that our house are close to be burned.

Yea I hear ya. It's not that I'm not interested in peoples lives. But I'd rather hear an important story, one with substance rather than what someone had for breakfast, unless they found a gold nugget in the cereal box and became the wealthiest person in the world that would be a story I'd listen to!
Anyways, thanx for your response

I have a hard time coming up with new discussions to post, so I think I do a minimum of one new discussion per week. The maximum will depend on how motivated and inspired I am, but normally, I just do around 5 new discussions at most. I have no time to monitor my discussions and I feel a little bad if I don't post comments to responses and when I don't award a best response on time.

when you say you don't monitor them, what do you mean? I can understand not responding to every post on a discussion board especially if there's a ton of posts but do you not go back to your discussions to check what people wrote? I understand MyLot not being on the top priority list of my day but I think I'd feel too guilty not to respond or at least read what people wrote for my discussion.
well happy mylotting and thanx for your response!

As for me, I would say that I start discussions depending on my mood (actually a lot of things I do generally depends on my mood LOL). There are days when I get all fired up and I would just start discussions without even thinking them over (usually about neopets LOL). Then there are times when it would take me days to actually start one because I keep mulling over the topic(s) and what to write. Sometimes, I even try to get suggestions from my sister or mom. I'm more into answering discussions than starting them, though.

I think I'm more into starting discussions then responding. I'm just more excited about posting a topic and seeing if people are out there paying attention t me. I also like to hear what people have to say in regards to my question... but it is definitely easier to respond than to think up a discussion. I do more responding than I do posting, obviously.
has anyone ever given you a really good topic that's gotten you tons of responses?
thanx for your response!

I haven't started a new discussion in awhile. I never can think of anything good to start a discussion on. So I just search the site and find things I want to respond to. If I do think of something and I'm not online, I write it down so I don't forget it. But I don't start one everyday like others do.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I can make five discussions a day but most of the times I can't even post any discussion in a day. I often do responding than posting a discussions. Anyway I can see a lot of discussions here that need to be answers.

New to the site, but I would like to start 1 good discussion per day as long as they are relevant and intelligent. I have no plans to throw junk up just for the sake of posting. The same thing can be said for my respones. If I find multiple topics that interest me I will respond to them all.

Its very rare from my side to open a new discussion as I hardly open a new discussion here at mylot. The most common thing I do here at my mylot is that I keep replying to open threads. Its fun and profitable as mylot pays me to do so.

I usually start a discussion when it pops into my mind. I want to learn about what other people think about a certain situation or topic and not just keep posting discussion just because I want to earn.( though earning is a plus hehe) There are times when I get ideas while replying to a post.I dnt want to rack my head trying to think of discussions to start. most of the time I just respond to other discussions.

Yea, I want quality too, not quantity but I do have to admit posting a discussion that gets a ton of hits is really an awesome feeling so that's one area where quantity can definitely thrive! In the beginning I did have this drive to post as many new discussions as I possibly could. But after a few days of no one responding I changed my thinking.
Thanx for your response!

Hi.. Yeah, it depends. If you're gonna look at my profile and see "MY discussions I've started, you'll notice that I seldom start one. I often read others discussions and rate them. But like what you said, sometimes I write whatever pops up in my head..
I often write about my experiences about being a mommy and ask for advice.. and yeah, I think you're talking about me (your child falls off the bed for the second time and need to ask advice about it in hopes to get some validation that you're not a bad mother).. who doesn't feel guilty about it especially if you're not the mom...
Before I reply to discussions, I make it a point to read all of the responses. Before I start up a new topic, I check out first if somebody else started it already. How often I write in average would be about 1 discussion in 2 days.
I hope I answered your question.

Wow.. I think it's too early to give a best response.. but I'm honored.. Thank you very much.. I've read on one of your responses that you're a stay-at-home mommy too? How many kids do you have and how old?
I hope we can talk about mommy advice here in myLot too. There are many mommies here like us that works from home. Like I said, I go here in myLot to rake up all the advices I can get. I love being here, and I hope you would too. I love the way you respond too. You're putting so much thought into it. See you around! ^^v thanks again. Cheers for me, hehe!

I try to at least post one new discussion a day. My discussions usually come to me while I'm watching tv, or cleaning around the house. Sometimes it stems from an argument or a misuderstanding I've had with someone. It's nice to be able to vent, and express yourself on here. I think that at least one day helps me earn, but also expands my social network. I love talking to people and exchanging ideas.

When I was new here in mylot, I startted a number of discussions about different things particularly my questions about mylot. But now that I am a member for a month now, I seldom start my discussions. I usually start atleast one discussion per day since I am also busy responding to different discussions.

that's koo, I'm not as seasoned as you but I kinna went through the same cycle.
In the beginning I thought that's what the site wanted from us. Or at least that's what I thought was gonna get me the big bucks. So I pushed out as many discussions as possible. After a few days of that I took to searching the site for discussions to talk about.
And now after reading all these responses and noticing a trend amongst both the newbies and the seasoned vets on this site, I realize that exactly what I should be doing. The seasoned vets are all saying post a lot to discussions out there and the right discussion will come to you. Every new person has said they post as many as possible.
I guess I'm glad I'm kinna in the middle, with a lot of one sided conversations during my day (I'm a stay at home mommy), it's easy to think of real discussions I wan to talk about. MyLot is a huge outlet for me!
Anyways, it looks as if I've babbled on and on so I'll just stop here. Thanx for your time and response

I start one when I come up with a question that I want to discuss. I know this really sounds simple but truly it is like talking to a friend. I ask questions or bring up topics I would speak to my friends about.
Or I read someone else's discussion and it makes me think of something to bring up in a discussion.

Yea it does sound simple but it's perfect. The forced one seem like people really dont care about the topic. I'd rather have this site full of real discussions than topics people put out to rack up money. This is not to say that I don't like the fun ones, those are entertaining and keeps a persons mind young... everyone should take a second and really think about which toe is longer their big one or their second one! hehehe yes that was a discussion I started a while ago!
Anyways, thanx for your reponse.
