Well, in this making-money-is-a-very-hard-thing-to-do era, we do sometimes have to choose our profession wisely and critically. You have to think long and hard in making decisions regarding your future occupation, because primarily, education will be your stepping stone to a bright and secure future. And since later 1990's, we all felt the BOOM of nursing profession especially in UK and USA. And since most nurses are underpaid here in the Philippines, many of them opted to go for the greener pasteur on the other side of the fence.
Having said that, it is nowadays, very common for us to see students walking around in their nursing uniforms, hoping to be earn a a living as a nurse. But since the recent influx of economical instability being felt all around the world, and visa retrogression in the frying pan right now, it makes me wonder, what is in store for these youngsters?
the question of a lifetime (for future nurses) to be or not to be a nurse....

the is no shortage of nurses in the uk, but you are guarrenteed a career with this one as people will always need health care.
if it is health care you are intrested in why not try radiography of speech therapy.
there is a shortage of both of these in my country.
happy mylotting

The increase in the demand for nurses that i cited was in the late 90's. i just want to clear that out.

true..i think our country is overpopulated with nurses already..and they just wont stop taking up the course..hehe
i think that people, or high school graduates, should consider the thing they are most good at before really signing up for a course..
sometimes a field of study is not suitable for one person and perfect for the other..
if its just money we're talking about..im sure that you wont enjoy all that you're getting if you dont enjoy your job..
so my stand would be, choose a profession you know you're going to be good at..it will pay in the long run.. :)

I think so too.
But I cannot generalize anything.
I have been teaching for quite sometime now and I know that for some students, the choice is not really theirs. Yes you guessed it right, their parents made that decision, since they will be the ones paying for their tuition. Some students though don't know what to do with their lives as of the moment. The typical Erik Erikson stage of identity versus role confusion (which actually takes place when you are in your adolescent years). When I was their age, I too, do not know what to do with my life yet, no plans, no future. All I know is I just go to school day after day getting allowance from my parents.
