Travel in pregnancy is best from 12 weeks until the time the airline will not let a pregnant lady travel. Around 8 to 12 weeks most pregnant ladies feel a bit unwell and some get morning sickness. Many feel really tired and that is not great for traveling. There is a danger of miscarriage that lasts from 4 weeks to 12 weeks. After 12 weeks miscarriage is not very common and pregnant ladies feel well after 12 weeks in the middle part of their pregnancy. So traveling from 12 weeks onwards would be excellent for a healthy pregnant lady. Airlines maybe want a letter in pregnancy after 28 weeks and they will not allow pregnant lady to fly after their cut off date. It might be 32 weeks pregnancy for example. When I was pregnant with my first son I traveled at 12 weeks to the Canary Islands. I didn't want to go swimming because I felt nervous of what might happen. That was silly of me. Then at 16 weeks I went to Italy and felt 100% well for that trip. One of my friends was pregnant with twins and she had a early labor whilst on holiday. She had a 2 year old daughter and had each twin in an incubator in two different hospitals. You might want to wait one to two months before you and your pregnant wife travel. She is 8 weeks now so that would take her to 12 weeks to 16 weeks. She should check if she needs any medicine or vaccinations if they are safe during pregnancy. Pregnant ladies would be attractive to malaria carrying mosquitoes so if pregnant I would not visit a malarial area.

The best thing to do is to get the advise of the doctor. They know much better and can advise accordingly. Pregnancy is didfferent for everyone and there might be different risk with each person. And I would say follow the advise of the doctor. At a time like this I dont think anything is worth the risk.

I was never pregnant, so I am not so sure what is the best time for a pregnant woman to travel. However I have heard many a times that the early pregnancy stage is around the first three months. In this stage, the baby in the womb is in a delicate condition and it is prone to fall easily if there is much movement or activities done by the mother. I had a lecturer who had a weak womb and the doctor had advised her not to move around for the first three months. But it was impossible to her, because she had to go to class and teach. So she tried not to move too much. In fact, she walked slowly to class. She didn't do any active movements, but she was lack of sleep. She was active in her co-curricular activities and she stands up a lot of the time. She drives her own car to class. Because of that, she lost her pregnancy when it was nearly three months. The next day she went to class as usual but she looked very sad. So I think, it is better that you seek advice from your own doctor because this is a serious matter. One person's case is different from another person's case. If you dare to take the chance, you have to be brave to accept the consequence if anything happens to your baby and your wife.

i traveled, by car, 3 weeks before i was due. the only thing my doctor told me was to make frequent stops and get out to stretch and walk around a bit, about every hour or so. as far as flying goes, the best thing would be to ask her doctor. which would be good to do before any travel sense every woman/pregnancy is different.
