How do you tell if your kid is doing drugs?

I watched a show the other day about what drugs do to your brain and there were some kids on there that had been doing all kinds of drugs for quite a while and their parents had no clue. I know they tell you to look for sudden changes in behavior but it's hard to tell what is a sudden change in behavior and what might just be teenage moodiness. How can you really tell?
