Hi friends, I think the term house wife should be scrapped from the dictionary, I'm a manager in the house. It's so difficult running a house effectively and I feel the term housewife is a bit deragatory. If I'm wrong please correct me. What do you think guys?Well, as for me, I'm a house manager for crying out loud. Thank you.

I agree!!!!! Besides manage the house we are also managers of our kids: keeping track of their things and schedules. And sometimes I'm the manager of my husband, although he keeps track of his own schedule (which doesn't really go wiht the rest of us) I do feel I have to keep track of his things too! Like I don't have anything else to do!
I do feel housewife doesn't do our job justice. That makes me think I should clean, cook and sit around the house until my husband needs something. Give me a break!

I agree with you the days of June Cleaver are so over. House wifes house managers what ever you want to call it do so much more then most people give us credit for since we don't have a normal 8-5 job. No we have a 24 hour a day 7 day a week job. And very few sick days. I say good job to all wives that stay at home I think we deserve a raise. :)

i'm not sure i see that as deragatory, you are a wife and you take care of the house. i mean if you are really hung up on titles, why not go with domestic engineer? it sound even more impressive lol. sorry, but i have never paid much attention to titles like this. i for one know who i am and what i do to contribute to our household, and it goes beyond just cooking and cleaning.

Hmmm...I'm afraid I must disagree with you. I find that there's nothing wrong with the term housewife. :-)))) I find that the term "housewife" is a beloved term, actually. Just my opinion, though.
A house manager is a good term, too, by the way! ;-D
