Ya, i don't have any heartburns, but only have numbness and pain under my left pain, it really makes me uncomfortable during the day and sleeping time. My mom also said this to me, i have to drink much more than before. Thanks for your reply, vidhyagowri :-)

Wow...Thank you very much for the website, it is very informative and useful for me. Now i just know that i have heartburns, before this i don't really understand what is heartburn. I thought that is pain in heart . Some of the tips i have read from the magazine that i bought, but this website is much more informative.
The doctors in my country are different from Europe (this is what my husband told me), the doctors here do not really give advices to us, they only say the baby is fine. My husband was mad when he accompanied me to visit the doctor on the first time. Just like for this case, i told about my pain to 2 doctors, but they just said normal and that's it, never advise or suggest more.
There are more articles in the website, which are also useful for me. Thanks again for the website and you are really helpful. Have a nice day!

My doctor advised me not to eat hot and spicy food, as it'll bring bad effect to the baby. I do not know how true this is, I read from those pregnancy books, they said the same. No coffee, no tea, no spicy food. But some of my friends still take all these, and they are fine. As pregnancy is quite complicated, perhaps it still depends on individual.

I don't think that spicy food would hurt your baby. One of the old wives tales though is that eating spicy foods will help bring your baby faster. It is supposed to induce labor. But I don't think it would unless it was close to your due date.

Really? I have never heard of this tale. The persons around me all said it's not good to take the spicy food, they claim that spicy food will make the baby have bad temper in the future. I'm not sure it's true or not.

When you hear these old wives tales just think, seriously think, why would spicy food make a baby have a bad temper?

Yes, i agree. I don't take the spicy food that often now. I take only some chilli sauce, not really spicy food actually. :-) I read from the pregnancy magazine, it's all about the indigestion, but it depends on individuals. :-) Thanks for the response and happy lotting.

I do not spicy food whether hurt your baby. You know, many concepts are different between eastern and western. As i know,in Asia countries, old peolpe always say pregnant woman can no eat some specific food such as spicy food, but maybe in western countries it 's a radicular thing.Anyway i think if some saying is common in a area, may be it has its root.So Why not accept your people's suggestion, anyhow you do not lose anything except keep rid of your favorite food for at most ten months.

Hello moyan007,
sure we all don't know if it's true or not, bad temper can also appear in a kid when the mother has Stress during pregnancy or other fears appear in her mind which produce hormones in her that are transmitted to the baby inside the womb.
At the moment my doctor said i have to much amniotic fluid, perhaps my baby doesn't want to suck the little bit spicy fluid.
I was scared by his answer because he said i have to deliever 3 weeks earlier (would be in the last week of january instead of mid-february 2009). That's why i want to check the opinion from another doctor tomorrow.
Have a great time in mylot and good luck in 2009!

lulumartin, my doctor told me to eat healthy and nutritious food. 5 types of food that he said pregnant woman should not take are fattening food, raw food, high carbohydrate food, junk food and oily food. It is to avoid the mom put on unnecessary weight and prevent the bacteria get into our body which might harm the fetus. If the spicy food that you love is fattening or oily or high carbohydrate, it will only make you put on weight. It should do no harm to your baby. However, I do heard from my colleague that everytime she takes spicy food, the fetus will become active.

Hi lulumartin, while your pregnant you should eat a healthy balanced diet,to make sure that you get enough energy and nutrients for your baby to grow and develop, and for your body to cope with the changes taking place. For me it's fine to eat spicy foods while your pregnant as long as you feel OK while you're eating them. try to eat plenty of foods containing iron to make sure you are getting enough of this important mineral. Also eat vegetables and drink conyaining vitamin C. Hope this would help your query.. Enjoy eating and take care :)

Yes, i understand the pain, i have it normally after the meals. I think that's because i don't divide my meals into small portions. I always take as much as i can at once. :-( I just had a terrible pain today after eating in the mall, i couldn't continue my shopping. :-( Seems i really have to change my eating habit now. I don't take any medication, i'm quite afraid it will have some effects on the baby. Anyway, i wish you will feel better after having spicy food, or perhaps just drink the water as much as you can. :-) Happy lotting.
