I really need your views on this friends, as i come to know that honey is not good for health for kids less than 1 year. And basically we always check the kids digestive system before continuing it. Is it harmful for kids digestive system especially for less than 1 year.
Can you share up here about your views.

i also know that honey is not that good on babies especially a year old younger because of its components that will make the baby difficult to breath or something, i dont remember actually but its actually like that, they said that it affects the nervous system...

I guess it is because a child's digestive system is not that fully developed that is why they discourage you from feeding him new things to him. I guess there is phase that we should be introducing certain kind of food for him as they grow up but there are certain foods that we should avoid while her digestive system is learning to digest different kinds of solid foods.

I guess the best that really guide you through it is to ask this to your pediatrician. I guess they can best answer it for you. Although you may get the answer in here but to be safe its better to ask it from your pediatrician who knows what is best for your daughter.

that honey is not good for the health of your kid less than 1 year is unreliable.I think what a child want must be what a child needs.so,please don't pay unduly attention on honey's function.however,we must hold of a criteria:do not let your child eat anything exclusively.

Hello, Well my parents had 7 of us children and I have 4 children, both my parents and docters told me to NEVER give honey to children under the age of one because it could kill your children. Plus just as the person in post number 3, it has all that bad bacterial and chemicals in it that is not good for your children. If you are using it I recommend that you stop giving it to your child to just be on the safe side.

When my kids were little (16 yrs ago) we could give them just about anything once they hit one year old. Now you can't feed them alot of different things. I haven't heard of the honey, but I do know that they can't have eggs either. I use to always give my kids scrambled eggs with they weren't even 1 yr old. They survived it!

There was never a situation when my daughter wa less than one that would make me give her honey... first... i don't really buy it... but when she turned two... the because very constipated... and my sister advised me to give her a spoonful of honey... and my daughter became better after that...
But if doctors say that do not give honey to kids less than one... then there is no reason for us not to listen to them... because they are the expert in that matter...

I was told that honey is to sticky, and can cause a baby under the age of two to choke. There are a lot of things that they tell you not to give a child under age two, but my daughter has had almost everything besides peanut butter. She has had a taste of peanut butter, but she gets a slight rash any time she has had a taste, so I have the feeling that she is allergic to peanuts. Other then that she has had eggs, chocolate, fruit, meats, vegetables, ice cream, etc. Pretty much anything you can think of. She is very spoiled...lol. She's my first so she gets to be that way...hehe. I think that it is all in what you think is right for your child. If you give your child a little bit at a time, and keep an eye on your child, then they should be fine. Just monitor them, and watch for any allergic reactions just in case. Hope that was helpful good luck.

I also actually listened the same stuff from my mother in law that honey should not be administered in a large quantity to the kids less than one year. However, when the kid in India is six months old, he is initiated into honey by administering honey drops which the baby consumes in a lick mode.
