I am devastated that I can't put up a real tree in my apartment this Christmas. The fake trees just don't look or smell right. We had a great time last year going out in the country and cutting down our tree. It's a little more work than pulling it out of the box but everyone has more fun getting a real tree. Looks like I'm gonna have to get more lights to hide my ugly boxed tree this year. Do you have a Christmas tradition like this? Does your apartment have restrictions like this?

I only had my first real tree about 2 yrs ago and I really did enjoy the whole process BUT I can understand why the building would have a rule like that..I'm assuming its for fire safety reasons which is logical ya know...sucks but at least they arent trying to tell eveyrone that they cant have a tree of any kind right...As much as you'd prefer to have that real tree..put up the fake one and try to make the most of it ya know..

That really would suck. I get a real tree every year (except for last year we couldn't afford one). I just love how they smell and how good they look all decorated up. Why would they put a restriction on that? I have never heard of anything like that.

I have lived in a few apartments before, but I was never told I could no have a real tree. I did not live in a normally apartment complex though. It was a house that was split into 2 apartments. That stinks that you cannot have a real tree. I have had real ones some years and some years I put up a fake one. The real ones look much nicer.

That's too bad that you can't have a live tree. I take it that it's because they are afraid of fires. I used to prefer live trees, but my allergies have gotten bad and live trees can really affect them. So, we just put more lights on - wrapping around the trunk and the branches.
