Do you plan or are you spontaneous?

Do you like to make plans or are you spontaneous? Which is the best? I do both - I suppose most people do! My parents, on the other hand, like to plan everything in detail. My mother in particular cannot cope with something unexpected or unplanned. I think some things should be planned (within reason) but we should all be spontaneous on occasion.

The problem with planning everything in advance is that when you plan, and something unexpected happens, you have to do a lot more work to re-plan everything. You can sketch out ideas, but I think it's better to be more on the side of spontaneous, though not completely, cause that would be nuts.

Well in my case, to get all the things I want to do (play guitar, biking, learn for school, etc) I really need a daily plan. But if someone comes to me and says "Hey let's do a hike", I'll usually say "Ok, let's go", and we'll leave the next day and climb a mountain or something. If a good old friend invites me to a game of pool, even though I had plans to do something else in that time, I'll just leave it unfinished and play some pool with that friend. I guess I have weakness for friends :D

Well once upon a time I was spontaneous, just kind of a get up and go kind of a girl. However, having kids will certainly change that. It is a pain to drag three kids out on the spur of the moment, and if it is an activity where kids are not involved then I have to get a baby sitter, and I don't have that many options. So why I would love to be more spontaneous until my youngest is at least 12 in 7 more years, I won't be able to.

I guess I am a mixture of both. I don't let unexpected things stress me out. I know what you mean about your mother. My sister is like that too. And if she has an unexpected guest show up or anything that disrupts her schedule she is so stressed it's pathetic. I plan things but I don't think the world will end if it doesn't work out that way. I tease her all the time and tell her she is OCD but I often wonder of she really is!

i dont like to make a schedule on everthing.if i am supposed to do whatever is planed out,i will feel like consciously constrained with the given stuffs.i like the feelings of being almost at ease ,and pick up or lay off any thing spontaneously .

I am both...for certain things I like to plan, for other things I can be spontaneous. I think that I can be spontaneous because I do not have any children, so I can do whatever I want. When I have children, it might be a little different. But if I don't have anything planned for a specific time, I can be spontaneous during that time :)

Both is good. I'm notorious for planning a vacation. We'll leave home to go to point B. But along the way we'll ezplore point a.2, a.5. a.7 etc. until we get to point b. Part of the fun is in the journey. If it's too tightly scripted we might miss something! :)
