I've read a book long time ago where Jesus was described as not very tall and with very curly, dark short hair. The book was called "Judas, My brother". Do you think Jesus had long hair like somewhat a hippie style? I usually see the same picture of him with that same long hair. Or do you think he had short curly dark hair just like what the book claims? I was just wondering.

I assume Jesus would have had long hair seeing his background and most people of that day had long hair.

The thought behind him having long hair is for two reasons. #1 he was know as a Nazarene. Nazarenes were instructed not to cut their hair, or trim their beards. Today's Hesitic Jews are a good example of this. Secondly only the Greeks and Romans of this time trimmed their hairs and beards. Many people living in occupied territories also followed this custom so it is possible Jesus might have trimmed his hair, but not likely as he was not know to be a follower of Roman ways.

I just always assumed that it was long. I do remember there was a description of it being like wool which i translated to being curly. But since he was traveling all over the place and doing ministry I just assumed that he didn't have the time to cut his hair and therefore it just stayed long and maybe occasionally when he went home to see his parents and siblings that maybe his mom or dad took him in to get a hair cut. I could be wrong though. That's just my opinion.
