I had worked in many types of businesses but most of jobs are desk jobs. Therefore I don't have much experience dealing with hands on, production line jobs. However my husband is working in a factory which deals with paints. He is the major color producer for the oil factory, and his job is to produce the 'mother color' to be mixed into many types of color paints. There are times when there is shortage of production. It was due to evaporating process while mixing the paints. Due to the shortage, the boss who didn't know anything about paints often complained to my husband. He didn't investigate the matter, but blamed them all for the shortage. There used to be many inspections, because they didn't trust the workers. The boss suspected somebody in the factory is smuggling several cans of paints every day. But this is not true at all, because the reason of shortage is the process of evaporation, which the boss was ignorant about. One day, the boss came to my husband and commented about the shortage. He talked as if my husband was the person to blame, since my husband was the person responsible in producing the major paint. He said maybe my husband miscalculated the amount of ingredients, that's why there is a shortage. Then, my husband told the boss that it was all the fault from the lab. The lab people should know the exact quantity of ingredients to be put into the mixture to produce the major color paint. They should have calculated so that even after the process of evaporation, the paint is adequate to meet the clients' order. Immediately after hearing my husband's explanation, the boss didn't know what to say because he was so embarrassed by his ignorance and somewhat stupidity. So he apologized to my husband and after that he went and observed personally the process of evaporation. Indeed, a few kilograms were lost in the air while in this process. After that, there were no more inspections and my husband and his crew can work comfortably.

Your husband is professional. In my opinion everyone should grasp his/her work as well as possible. In that case many mistakes can be avoided.
