Crunch for Cash

I'm in college and this year I knew I'd have to get a job to help pay for it. After trying to find something close to the perfect college job I had to settle for working in a school position of washing dishes at 7.25 for one of the school's cafes. Not that I'm complaining that much because I do enjoy it and got a raise after only a week of working.
We are supposed to get paided every 2 weeks and I've been working about 4 weeks now. Haven't been paid yet because we're supposed to wait 4 weeks for the first pay check. I wouldn't have a problem with but right now I have about nine dollars to my name. I need new shoes, need to go grocery shopping, and I need to get minutes for my phone. I'm in a crunch for cash and it stinks majorly.
I finally had to cave as ask my parents for money. I hate doing that because I feel as if they shouldn't need to support me. But I didn't have any other choice.
Have you ever been in a cruch for cash for something important? When have you been in need for cash? Have you asked for help when you needed money the most?

My first year of college I really needed the help. The school wasn't being helpful at all and said I had to owe them somewhere close to $2,000 when I was told I shouldn't have had to pay more than a few hundred dollars. Plus, add books on top of that and that didn't help things much. I did get help for it and I did pay the money back for the help I did recieve but it was annoying just the same.
I can't wait until you get paid though. Means I can stop spending money for awhile, haha.
