Do you always use social bookmarking to promote your AC content?

I just started out on AC and I have a handful of articles there. I was wondering how other people are promoting their content. I submitted one of my items to StumbleUpon and it has gotten a few hundred views that way. I am hesitant to bookmark each article though because I don't want to be seen as a spammer in any circles. Is that acceptable to do or is it frowned upon? Any tips are appreciated.

It is rare for me to do too much promoting of my articles; a mix of laziness and too busy. However, I'll every now and then direct Myspace buddies to something I'd like them to read. Also I've even brought some attention to AC movie reviews in discussions here on Mylot.

I use social networks, forums, and traffic exchanges. I add my articles to my blogs and promote the blogs in an attempt to gain subscribers. My idea is that if I have more subscribers then I will have an established audience for my articles. I creat a blog with content and my articles then link it through traffic exchanges(not very successful),forums(better) and other blogs. I have just registered 6 new domains and hope to add my articles to my new websites as part of the content in hopes of gaining more page views when I release my websites.

That sounds like a serious effort. Are you pleased with the results so far?

I don't use stumble upon. But, I do post most of my articles on Facebook (where I am anyway), then some of them on Yahoo Buzz, Fanpop and Propeller. I need the views. I am still 155 short of 1000 views.
How does stumble upon work? I thought it was just marking my favorite sites.

It is a way of marking favorite sites but it's also a way of discovering new ones. When you use the toolbar to surf you choose interests and stumbleupon tries to show you a site you may like. If you use the toolbar to rate a site that doesn't exist on stumbleupon you are asked to tag and describe the site and it goes into the pool of sites. If you tag correctly, you should get pageviews from users who are interested in your content. There's more to it than that like the whole social aspect of it. It's easier to understand when you use it, it's actually kind of fun. I've found a lot of great sites using it.

I really need to go check out Stumble Upon. Thanks for pointing it out to me!
I don't do nearly enough promoting of my articles on Associated Content, and I really need to do that to get some views. Sometimes I might post something about it on Gather.com, where I write a lot anyway.
Also I haven't written a lot for Associated Content for months, but just recently I wrote two articles for them. So all of the contacts I had who used to read my articles have fallen away. I need to do some work over there...and make some new friends.
Good luck with your writing. What sorts of topics do you write about?

I just written reviews of things I use and sites I visit. What is your pen name at AC?
This is off topic but do you enjoy Gather? Have you gotten paid for writing there?

You can find me at AC and Gather and anywhere else on the web by AnythngArt or Christine Zibas (I use my real name most times). Let's be friends on AC and read each other's articles, help with those page views.
Gather is a fun site (at least to me). It's more informal. You can write about anything and you earn points toward either cash (PayPal) or gift cards (Amazon, Target, Starbucks, Macy's, Home Depot, Borders, etc). You get points for writing articles, commenting on other people's articles, posting photos or commenting, posting videos or commenting. You join groups based on your interests and make friends (very easy there). Depending on your level of activity, you can earn quite a lot.
Also Gather has contests. I just won $150 in American Express giftcards for a photo with milk in it (the "Got Milk?" people are a sponsor). They have contests all the time, and I've done pretty well. I've won 2 other big prizes while being there, plus a load of books. All while still earning points and getting cash or cards. Just today I cashed out for $25 Target card. It probably took me 2 months, but I am not as active as many people on there.
All in all, I enjoy the site. Hope you will consider it. Just go on over, you don't need any referral.
