It takes about a minute for my computer to boot up in the morning, and I usually take a sip and a pee before sitting down for work. How about you, what do you do besides wait and wait?

My computer takes a lot longer than that. Over five minutes. I do anything that grabs my attention, nothing in particular at all. I take a sip or two of coffee, tidy up the work area around the computer, give my cats a minute or two of attention.

that's really slow... maybe you can disable some of your startup items...
my computer takes less than a minute to start.

There's nothing to disable anymore. It's just the video graphics driver and AVG Free that are enabled at startup. Guess it's really my hardware that are slow.

Ha!ha!ha!ha!that wa very funny, you do what and what?ha!ha sounds like your pc take a while before finishing its boot process
But for me i always wakeup at 04:30 in the morning and logon to mylot, by that time i'm still in bed because my pc is just beside me and i could always put the keyboard on the bed and start with what i normally like to do. By 07:00 i'm alredy done few more post because i'm on dial-up and at that time the internet connection is fast and i could always make more posts fast before business opens and the network becomes slow
But yours was such a classic one

Usually when I put my computer on I'm just getting home. So I turn mine on right as I get inside, and then I usually do stuff I'd normally do when getting home, such as putting my coat away (at least in winter), grabbing a soda, checking the answering machine, etc. Mine boots pretty quickly so by the time I've done a few quick things my computer's ready to go.
