Im middle eastern and dont consider myself "white" so i put other...??

You know those drop down boxes that ask you what race you are affiliated with or some similar wording? You'd see white (caucasian), hispanic, african-american (some have black), and so on... then you have other. I select other because i don't think i fit in that category.. of caucasian. I thought it meant it meant white pretty much or i assumed so lol... so i always selected other when middle-eastern was not an option.
What do you put yourself as? By the way i have to give credit to laglen for inspiring me to start this particular discussion...

anytime I am asked to put down or tick the box that represents my race I know what to do. I cross them all out and make a new box and write the word human beside it and tick the box. I am a member of the human race - don't put me in a category because I am not ticking on any box that expects me to state my race.

ha ha ha lol that's a good one! how about human! =D
it does bother me when im filling out an application for something (work for example)
because it makes me think what does it matter for? that is the most unique response so far lol

This is an excellent discussion, and I am sure you will not find another like it on here. If I were in your shoes, I would choose other. My husband, being an Arab, looks white but he isn't. I am pretty sure he chooses other.

I am Asian and I have never been out of the country so I have not encountered these questions. This might be some form of racial profiling. Cheers!!
